Lana Shocked by WWE Legends Deal Offer, Teases In-Ring Return

Lana was candid with TMZ about how she was shocked to even get that call from WWE. She later joked next up was the WWE Hall of Fame. Lana said:

"I was shocked when they called me. My agent called from Paradigm and I cried. I just couldn’t believe it. But now I’m having fun with it, so you’re going to have to get used to it (laughs). On my way to the WWE Hall of Fame." (h/t: WrestleTalk)

Lana was best known for managing her husband, current WWE star Rusev. It wasn’t too long ago that Rusev made his return to WWE, either. WWE released Rusev in April 2020, while Lana would be with the company until June 2021. After his release, Rusev went to AEW, and Lana would join him for a little bit in 2023. Rusev returned to the WWE in April this year, the same time that Lana was asked to sign a Legends Deal.

Will Lana Ever Return To The Ring?

Also in the interview, Lana revealed if she was officially retired, and it appears that she wouldn’t mind stepping back into the WWE ring. The last time Lana was in a WWE ring was on the May 31, 2021, episode of WWE RAW, where she and Naomi lost to Dana Brooke (now TNA’s Ash by Elegance) and former WWE star Mandy Rose. She said:

“I think when I said I retired, I was being very sarcastic. Well because they let me go at 36 so I just claimed that apparently I retired at 36. But I think that’s really young, I would love to wrestle again, but I do believe that my money pocket and what I add the most value to wrestling companies is talking and promoting their talent.”

While she wouldn’t mind getting back into the ring, she also teased making her return as Rusev’s manager. For her, it’s what sells, telling stories, and their relationship did tell a lot of stories back in the day. She added:

"At the end of the day we’re in the business of promotion and if you watch the McMahon documentary, if you watch Logan and Jake Paul talk about boxing and wrestling, we’re in the business of selling tickets and that’s why Logan and Jake are so good at what they do, because they know how to tell stories and they know how to promote and they’re really entertaining at that. I do believe that I do well at those things and Lana knows she can help Rusev.”

So who knows if or when Lana will appear by Rusev’s side. Rusev was recently part of John Cena’s Last Time Is Now Tournament, where he made it to the quarterfinals before losing to Jey Uso.
