Legendary tag team could hit wrestling free agency

Since Matt and Jeff Hardy left AEW, they've become a staple on TNA's programming. The veteran tag team has enjoyed previous stops with the company in the past, too.

The Hardy Boys are the reigning TNA tag team champions. They've been showcased as one of the better duos on the company's roster, despite their age and the stage they're at in their career. However, Matt and Jeff's future is far less clear than their championship would have you believe.

According to Fightful, the veteran duo is in the final month of their current contracts. They will become free agents unless they reach an agreement on an extension.

“TNA sources we spoke to believe the Hardy Boyz’ contracts are up next month, though they couldn’t confirm,” Fightful reported.

Interestingly, The Hardy Boys recently won the NXT tag team championship, too. Therefore, it's understandable if some believe that they could be heading back to WWE for one last run before calling time on their careers. Of course, TNA could still reach an agreement to keep them around for the foreseeable future.

At this point, it's hard to gauge where the legendary tag team will be showcasing their talents by the end of the year. Of course, sticking in TNA likely makes the most sense, as that's where they're being given the most opportunity to shine.

Matt and Jeff Hardy to face Team 3D in a tables match

On Sunday, Matt and Jeff Hardy will do battle with another legendary tag team: Team 3D (Bully Ray and Devon Dudley) in a tables match. The contest will be a nostalgia fest for millennials and older fans, as the two teams were among the biggest tag teams of their generation in WWE.

In true homage to Team 3D, the match will be a tables match. To add more excitement, both the TNA and NXT tag titles will be on the line.

If the opportunity to face Team 3D isn't enough reason to re-sign with TNA, it's hard to see what will be. After all, WWE's NXT won't give them the type of opportunities and exposure that TNA is offering. And, at this stage of their careers, it may be difficult to sell them as part of the main roster.

Matt and Jeff have a decision to make about their future. But, for right now, their focus will be on Team 3D and ensuring they end the night with their championships in hand.
