Lilian Garcia’s run as the full-time ring announcer for WWE SmackDown has ended.
Garcia revealed on social media after Friday’s show that she will remain with WWE, working Saturday Night’s Main Event specials and singing at select WWE events.
Garcia posted:
“BREAKING NEWS Just finished announcing SmackDown in Barcelona, Spain, and it was absolutely incredible! Gracias por todo el amor España! But now I have some news—this was my last show as the full-time SmackDown announcer. A new era is upon us, but I will still be with the company as I will be announcing for all Saturday Night’s Main Event shows, singing at certain special events, and currently working on other show ideas with WWE! WWE is my home, so stay tuned as a new chapter begins. I invite all of you to continue this journey with me as we share it together! Bottom line, thank you, and I love you dearly!”
Yesterday’s SmackDown was in Barcelona, Spain. Garcia spent eight years living in the country when she was a child.
Garcia returned to WWE on a full-time basis in October after Samantha Irvin announced she was leaving the company. She moved to the SmackDown brand at the beginning of the year.
Garcia’s WWE career began when she was hired by the company in 1999. She debuted as the Raw ring announcer in August that year. In 2009, she left WWE briefly to focus on her music career, returning in 2011. She again left the company in 2016 to care for her ailing father, who passed away that December.
