  • Fish tank "drowning" spot in Allin-Moxley I Quit match drew widespread outrage.
  • Matt Hardy said it's not the worst; Sarah Stock called it "attempted murder" and warned parents.
  • Darby Allin beat Jon Moxley with Sting's help; PPV also featured multiple title matches and defenses.

It’s been almost a week sinceAEW stars Darby Allin and Jon Moxley had their infamous “I Quit” match at the AEW WrestleDream pay-per-view. The match caused outrage for some over a spot that showed Moxley trying to “drown” Allin in a fish tank.

Matt Hardy Reacts To The Fish Tank Spot

On the newest episode of his podcast, "Extreme Life of Matt Hardy," former AEW Star and current WWE NXT and TNA Tag Team Champion Matt Hardy spoke about the spot, and he didn’t think it was the worst thing the company has done. He said:

"I saw the spot and by no means do I think that this is the worst thing that AEW has ever done. Sure it’s not the greatest thing I’ve seen on TV but I mean you can say that from TNA, you can say that from WWE. There’s been incidents that have happened across all these places where there’s been controversial things that kids should not try at home." (h/t: WrestleTalk)

His response is way different from former AEW coach and producer Sarah Stock’s response. As noted, Stock criticized the company and called the spot “attempted murder in wrestling without a disclaimer.” She also called out mothers to change the channel. Stock would get criticized for her past matches, especially her straight fight with Tayor Wilde in TNA, where she tried to choke her with a purse strap. Like Matt said, every place has had their own questionable incidents.

Darby Allin Beats Jon Moxley

The intense match ended with help from Sting, who not only gave his bat for Allin to use, but also took out the other Death Riders. At one point, Sting lifted Marina Shafir and dragged her to the back. Allin then made Moxley say “I Quit” while he was in a Scorpion Deathlock.

But what else happened during the PPV? FTR (Cash Wheeler and Dax Harwood) defeated JetSpeed (Mike Bailey and Kevin Knight), Kris Statlander retained the AEW Women’s World Title against “Timeless” Toni Storm, Brodido (Bandido and Brody King) retained the AEW Tag Team Titles against the Don Callis Family’s Kazuchika Okada and Konosuke Takeshita, and the Young Bucks lost to a returning Jurassic Express.

Also, “Hangman” Adam Page retained the AEW World Championship against Samoa Joe, while Kyle Fletcher retained the AEW TNT Title against Mark Briscoe. Mercedes Mone also won her match against Mina Shirakawa. It was a pretty packed show.
