New WWE Signing Set For Blockbuster Heel Turn Before Even Stepping In The Ring

According to a new report courtesy of Fightful Select, a heel run for Monroe has already been discussed. That's despite the former AEW Women's Champion being overtly framed as a face upon arrival. So much so that, at Great American Bash this weekend, Monroe will team up with Jordynne Grace to take on Fatal Influence, an established heel group in NXT.

That tag team match will be the first televised match Monroe has wrestled since signing with WWE, which is why rumors that WWE has already discussed a heel turn are so surprising. We've not even seen Monroe wrestle under her new name in WWE yet, and there might already be preparations in place to completely transform her character.

Blake Monroe Makes Way More Sense As A Heel

Whenever someone who has been popular elsewhere, especially somewhere as notable as AEW, debuts in WWE, they're kind of a face by default. The fans are pleased to see them, so they're going to cheer. However, that flies in the face of how we know Monroe best, as the former champion did her best work as a heel when working with Toni Storm in AEW.

It's that feud that put Monroe on the map, and it will have been her matches and moments with Storm that landed her on WWE's radar. With that in mind, it makes total sense why WWE would want Monroe to be a heel as soon as possible. That's the version of the wrestler they signed, so that's the version they want to use.

As for when and where it happens, the implication in the report was that the heel turn has been discussed but isn't necessarily imminent. That said, if WWE wants to get it done, it has the perfect opportunity to pull the trigger this weekend. Monroe can betray Grace and cost her the match, aligning herself with Fatal Influence in the process.
