The Oklahoma Sooners have the best fanbase in the country when it comes to their football program. However, it's pretty obvious that it does not carry over into all of their sports. It does carry over for softball, but the other major sports don't always get that same love, and it feels like the two basketball teams are near the bottom of the list. Head coach Porter Moser has noticed that, too, and he's using a basketball team in the OKC metro area as an example.
"We need people's help. We have to fill Lloyd Noble," Moser told reporters on Tuesday. "We have to get that atmosphere. We have no better example on the globe of high-level basketball and what a fan base can do than the Thunder. That atmosphere is the best in the sport of basketball, hands down. I've played in every college venue. I've watched pro. I've been in games, from my hometown of Chicago, back when the Bulls were in the run.
"I have never seen an atmosphere like a Thunder game. And, it makes a difference. I don't think there's a sport where I make more of a difference than basketball, and I'm biased, because it's right on top of you. In this league, to be the best of the best and to go where we want to go, we need your help. I think fans are going to love this team. I think they're going to see how hard they work, and we've got to sell out that arena night after night, not just when we are doing well, not just when we are having a bad night."
#Sooners HC Porter Moser said the Oklahoma City Thunder have set the blueprint for the atmosphere that he wants at the Lloyd Noble Center.

Last season, the Thunder won the NBA Championship, their first ever, and a large reason why is because of the home court advantage they had. They were 35-6 at home in the regular season, and 11-2 at home in the playoffs, which is very, very good. They had the best record at home in the entire NBA, and that helped lead to a successful road to the ring.
The Sooners could use something like that. For every OKC Thunder game, you will always hear people reference the home crowd as one that feels like a college atmosphere, and that OKC is a college town. Okay, so prove it. Show that at the Lloyd Noble, because there may not be a more valuable home court advantage than the ones the teams in the SEC have.
The Sooners will have to play teams like the Arkansas Razorbacks, Kentucky Wildcats, Tennessee Volunteers, Texas Longhorns, and I could keep going, who all have some of the loudest basketball arenas ever. If they want to compete at a high level, they need that. Truth be told, it shouldn't be too hard, either, as the Sooners have one of the smallest arenas in the SEC.
