Piper Niven Dealing with Potentially Career-Threatening Neck Injury

There is an update regarding WWE Superstar Piper Niven’s injury. As noted earlier this week, there was a report about her dealing with an undisclosed injury, and now the latest Wrestling Observer Newsletter has revealed what is going on with the SmackDown star.

Piper Niven Dealing With A Neck Injury

According to Dave Meltzer’s Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Niven is dealing with a neck injury, and it’s not looking good for the former WWE Women’s Tag Team Champion. Meltzer wrote:

Piper Niven has been gone from TV due to a neck injury. The injury is very serious, and the internal injury report described it as potentially career-threatening. (h/t: WrestlePurists)

On the August 29 episode, which was a few days before the Clash in Paris PLE, Niven was originally scheduled to be tagging with Alba Fyre to face the champions Charlotte Flair and Alexa Bliss. Due to Niven’s injury, the match was changed to Alexa Bliss vs. Chelsea Green. It seemed like a last-minute decision that had fans wondering where Niven was.

WWE had changed the scheduled WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship match from the August 29 episode of SmackDown to the September 19 episode. Green took Niven’s place in the title match. She and Fyre were unsuccessful in capturing the titles. So the last time Niven was in the ring was on the August 22 episode of SmackDown, where she defeated Charlotte.

Piper Niven’s WWE Career

Doudrop and Eva Marie WWE

To be honest, WWE doesn’t really know what to do with Niven. Her being part of Green’s security is the best that could happen to her. Niven started her WWE career in NXT UK in 2019, where she feuded with the likes of Rhea Ripley. Two years before her debut, she was part of the 2017 Mae Young Classic.

Her main roster debut was on the June 14, 2021, episode of WWE RAW. There she debuted as Eva Marie’s “mysterious protégé.” Her ring name was terrible — Doudrop and the whole partnership was weird. Luckily, by the 2023 Royal Rumble, she was given her name back. The 34-year-old has held the WWE Women's Tag Team Titles with Chelsea Green and was a two-time WWE 24/7 Champion.

She’s part of the Secret Hervice with Fyre, and they in turn are part of Green’s stable, The Green Regime. It’s a fun storyline that gives each wrestler some TV time. So just when things were going pretty well for Niven, she’s now out with a major injury.
