The Hurt Syndicate have made it no secret that they have their eyes on strengthening their ranks, adding to the existing cohort of MVP, Bobby Lashley and Shelton Benjamin. However, the trio aren’t just letting in anybody, recently rejecting MJF on the April 9 episode of AEW Dynamite. In the past, they had rejected Ricochet too. It is clear that not just anyone can be a member of The Hurt Syndicate, so it poses the question of “who?”.
The following names are potential future members of The Hurt Syndicate, taking a look across the AEW roster and beyond to see who might be worthy of joining their ranks.
Powerhouse Hobbs looked set for some sort of a push at the back end of last year, but he has quickly gotten lost in the shuffle. He is far too talented to be left on the sidelines, and The Hurt Syndicate could be a viable answer to helping him.
Given the size and dominant nature of both Bobby Lashley and Shelton Benjamin, Hobbs fits the billing in a major way. Additionally, Hobbs joining The Hurt Syndicate opens the door to him potentially parting ways from the group down the line and feuding with Lashley in what could be a star-making singles program.
Even though The Learning Tree hasn’t been the most entertaining of acts in AEW, Big Bill has been the biggest success story of the faction. Bill has gotten over with fans and he’s in the best shape of his career, and this warrants AEW taking more steps to elevate him.
Bill standing alongside the likes of Lashley & Benjamin, perhaps playing the heavy in the act, could do wonders for his standing, and it would make The Hurt Syndicate feel way more dominant too. He feels like the type of name that all three current members would give the ‘okay’ to. Bill lost out to the Hurt Syndicate at the Dynasty PPV in tag team action, which could make him see that he needs to leave Chris Jericho and join MVP.
Brody King shedding a more darker and brooding side to put on a suit and walk around with The Hurt Syndicate would be a big change and contrast to what we’re used to, but it is hard to deny that he’d look like one of the coolest men in AEW if he did so.
King is an absolute powerhouse who loves hurting people, making him the perfect sort of candidate for the faction. Ever since Malakai Black left AEW, the promotion hasn’t quite found a place for King & Buddy Matthews. This would give King a proper direction and something completely fresh.
Kevin Knight joined AEW in 2025, and he has gotten over thanks to his impressive in-ring work and natural charisma. However, Knight doesn’t have any sort of real gimmick right now, and it could be just a matter of time before he gets lost in the void.
This is where a shock heel turn and joining The Hurt Syndicate comes in. In the same way that the group brought the best out of Cedric Alexander in WWE, Knight could benefit from the same, being the younger name elevated by working alongside three veterans of the business.
Speaking of Cedric Alexander, there is an argument to make for reuniting the entire ‘Hurt Business’ in AEW. Alexander was released from WWE and is currently a free agent, and AEW could bring him in to rejoin his old friends.
He has proven chemistry with the group, he can join Benjamin as a tag team and free up Lashley for a singles push, and he can finally showcase his talents in a prominent position once again after being misused by WWE for years.
