WWE was trying to play a joke when Jinder Mahal was the returning WWE Champion on Day 1, but a Rocky interaction and chance encounter on social media created an opportunity. With Jinder being, ironically or not, a viral hit, it may be time to start predicting every Jinder Mahal PLE until WrestleMania 40.

This experiment might be even more relevant now that his most recent opponent is nursing a knee injury. Seth Rollins is undoubtedly a bigger star and draws more than Mahal.

Even with his 15 minutes starting up again, he still needs to be more widely used. However, even the worst characters in film or literature are just one story arc away from being iconic. The show must continue, and Jinder could be a big part of that.

WWE Royal Rumble – Drew McIntyre vs Jinder Mahal vs Jey Uso (World Heavyweight Championship Match)

The “Modern Day Maharaja” would probably be in the Royal Rumble match. Most of the active roster will make an appearance. However, his newly forming fandom online and an opening at the top of the card might see him get moved from another superstar padding the numbers of WWE’s biggest match of the year to instead being in the world title picture once again.

If WWE cares about continuity, then Seth Rollins’s most recent three challengers need to be on the top of the pile for his replacement. That would be Jey Uso, Jinder Mahal, and WWE’s other CM Punk feud-in-waiting Drew McIntyre.

With CM Punk likely being slated to fight for the title at WrestleMania 40, giving his only other rival the belt before that event makes sense. Having Jinder Mahal in the mix, though, makes it more entertaining for the next several months.

Drew McIntyre and Jey Uso both should avoid taking pins ahead of marquee WrestleMania matches. Mahal can do it for them. He also delivered reasonably well in his Raw match with Rollins, so he can certainly have another go on a show where the top draws on the card aren’t related to the titles.

Also, putting him in a title match on a “big four” premium event might get Khan to do some free advertising again. Jinder would have long odds of winning the Royal Rumble.

It is actually more likely he took the title after he took out Seth Rollins. A newly pushed Mahal might feel credible enough to threaten Uso and McIntyre, with whom he has a shared history. His loss won’t be shocking, but it saves two top stars from a loss and fits with the story WWE has been telling thus far.

Elimination Chamber – Men’s World Heavyweight Championship Elimination Chamber (Drew McIntyre, Finn Balor, Jinder Mahal, Sami Zayn, Cody Rhodes, R-Truth)

If CM Punk wins the Royal Rumble, that means WWE will be focused on finding him a challenger, or rather a champion. Drew or even Damian Priest will probably hold the title, but most likely McIntyre.

So WWE has to find two main event heels, and one must be outside Judgment Day to carry this match. That means Jinder Mahal is up again. Having competed twice for the title, Mahal is a relevant choice. This is especially true if he beats a talented face like Johnny Gargano or Xavier Woods to earn his spot, which is always the best course of action.

Much like the Royal Rumble match, Mahal is destined to lose; unlike the Rumble match, though, he will probably not have a significant role. Veer and Sanga can help in the build by being additional bodies for the rest of the field to beat into while building to the match in Perth.

It won’t be nearly as grand an exit as an entrance to the main event, but three title matches in a row is more than enough to make Jinder feel like a lasting presence in WWE’s mid-card ranks.

WrestleMania 40 – Fatal Five-Way for the Intercontinental Championship (Jinder Mahal, Sami Zayn, Ivar, Dominik Mysterio, and Xavier Woods)

There is more than one title for Raw superstars to chase after. Let’s suppose rumors are true, and Brock Lesnar is returning for Gunther so both giants can beat each other senselessly.

In that case, the Intercontinental title is short for Gunther’s waist. Brock Lesnar isn’t going to fight somebody over the Intercontinental championship. Now, maybe Gunther loses it in a chamber match; who knows? Still, if that match happens, the title will be on somebody else’s waist for WrestleMania. As of today, that person would likely be Xavier Woods.

Jinder would enter this match feeling like the biggest threat to the title, which this bout will need. Having challenged for the world title three times and picking up wins on Raw in between, he will be coming into WrestleMania strong.

That match may have a stipulation, but it probably won’t, and either way is acceptable. All the big one-on-one matches can carry that load. The match will give some hard-working folks on the roster a chance at a WrestleMania moment.

Creatively fitting as many people on the show as makes narrative sense is always WWE’s WrestleMania plan. With that title coming off a massive reign improving its prestige, it can easily sustain fans’ interest. Jinder can be the match’s primary villain in a way that talents like Ivar or Dominik Mysterio can’t.

Pitfalls in Predicting Every Jinder Mahal PLE Until WrestleMania 40

As quickly as the limelight gave a shine to Jinder Mahal, it can go away. Predicting every Jinder Mahal PLE until WrestleMania 40 could easily read as does not appear for each entry.

Mahal is different from staple acts such as Sami Zayn or AJ Styles. When those stars aren’t utilized much, they are still around just enough to get a spot on the bigger stages. Mahal could go away for another six months, and it wouldn’t change a thing.

That, though, would be a major mistake. WWE has the chance to capitalize on a blunder by its most prominent alternative and finally accomplish what it set out to do six years ago.

The Jinder Mahal experiment set out to create a genuine draw for an Indian audience to expand WWE’s fanbase in that country. Last year, when WWE went to the country, its three biggest Indian superstars lost in an opening tag match. Putting their hopes on Jinder Mahal wasn’t as misguided as some fan discourse might suggest.

Despite the match’s real-life impact on Rollins’s potential availability, his match with Seth was good and fun to watch. Since Seth Rollins is probably out, Mahal could find himself higher on the card. That means challenging for the world title quite a bit on the road to WrestleMania, though not on the Philadelphia card. Only time can honestly tell how WWE will react to the situation.

Will they keep pushing and see where it leads, or will they hinder Jinder?

Iconic WWE announcer makes request for John Cena’s last match

Everyone wants to be part of John Cena’s last WWE match, including famed ring announcer Lillian Garcia. She will be at the December 2025 edition of Saturday Night’s Main Event, where Cena’s last WWE match will take place. While she is no longer a full-time ring announcer for them, Garcia usually handles Saturday Nights’s Main Event shows. During a Q A on Instagram Live (via WrestlePurists), Garcia confirmed that she will be at the show. However, she is not confirmed to introduce Cena for his last bout. But she would love to do it, if it works out, calling it an “absolute honor.” “I will be there,” said Garcia, “so, barring any surprises that I don’t know, I will be announcing it [Cena’s last match]. Hopefully, fingers crossed. “It’d be really cool, especially because I announced John Cena as “The Prototype” before he was John Cena. It was at a live event. I’ll never forget, I was there, and I was like, ‘Who is this Prototype guy?’ When he came out, I was like, ‘Wow, he’s got a look.’ And then just to see his entire career, it’s been absolutely incredible. And what he’s done now with the farewell tour,” she continued. Will Lillian Garcia announce John Cena’s last WWE match? If all things go at this pace, Garcia should be the ring announcer for Cena’s last match. She has confirmed that she will be at the December 2025 edition of Saturday Night’s Main Event where his last match will take place. So, WWE will likely have her do the job. Unless Cena specifically requests something else, expect Garcia to do it. She has been there for the highs and lows of his career, so she is a fitting choice. Garcia was one of WWE’s top ring announcers from 1999 to 2010. She would then return to the company in 2011, and she would make sporadic appearances towards the end of her run, which ended in 2019. Then, in 2019, Garcia began as the ring announcer for Professional Fighters League. She would remain there until 2023. Her voice was being damaged, and she then returned to WWE in 2024 after Samantha Irvin’s surprise departure. Now, she announces special events, such as the second-ever Evolution PLE in July 2025.

Chiefs have a no-brainer trade target after loss vs. Bills

Chiefs have a no-brainer trade target after loss vs. Bills

The last time the Kansas City Chiefs lost four games in a season, they went on to make the Super Bowl and beat the San Francisco 49ers. Six years have passed since, and Andy Reid's team will have to make some adjustments to replicate that fortune. That's especially evident after another heartbreaking regular-season loss to the Buffalo Bills, which exposed what might be the Chiefs' biggest flaw on offense: a lack of an explosive running game. That's why they need to pick up the phone and reach out to the New York Jets to trade for Breece Hall. Chiefs need to trade for Breece Hall According to Dianna Russini of The Athletic, the Jets are more than open to trading Hall, who's in the final year of his contract. "The Jets have been getting calls on RB Breece Hall for a while, and while there is interest, New York is looking for at least a third-round pick in return," wrote Russini. Hall is just 24 years old, and while he had a major injury as a rookie, he's been pretty durable since. This season, he's up to 117 carries for 581 rushing yards and two touchdowns, averaging 5.0 yards per carry. He also has 21 receptions on 30 targets for 178 receiving yards. The Chiefs average 121.2 rushing yards per game, the 12th most in the NFL. That's with Patrick Mahomes accounting for one-third of their rushing yards, though. Neither Isiah Pacheco — who's currently out with an injury — nor Kareem Hunt has been efficient, and rookie Brashard Smith might not be ready to take on a bigger role. The Chiefs ran for just 79 yards against a Bills defense that gives up the fourth-most rushing yards per game (141.4), and Hall could certainly fix those woes.

Green Bay Packers: Does Tucker Kraft’s Injury End the Team’s Super Bowl Hopes?

The Green Bay Packers had an all-around depressing outing on Sunday afternoon. An ugly loss to the Carolina Panthers was made worse by star tight end and fan-favorite Tucker Kraft going down with a season-ending ACL injury. As much as the poor performance dimmed the light on the team’s Super Bowl aspirations, the loss of Kraft means that the Packers must continue on without one of their best players. What does the injury do to the team’s championship hopes? Green Bay Packers Lose Tucker Kraft for Season Tight end Tucker Kraft was in the middle of a career year for the Green Bay Packers before his knee buckled on Sunday. He exited the game against the Carolina Panthers, one that the team went on to lose, and later received the news that his ACL was torn – he had played his last snap for this season. Kraft was on pace for a 1,000-yard season and had already hauled in 6 touchdowns in eight games played. He still leads all tight ends in yards after catch with 344 and total EPA (estimated points added) with 49.49. In Sunday’s contest, he had 2 catches for 20 yards prior to exiting the game. If Kraft had continued to play well throughout the rest of the season, he would likely be in line for Pro Bowl and All-Pro honors. Instead, quarterback Jordan Love‘s most reliable target is now going to be on the shelf for the rest of season. Can the Packers Still Make a Deep Playoff Run Without Kraft? It’s a tough question to ask, but one that Packers fans are grappling with in the aftermath of a bleak afternoon. Undeniably, the Super Bowl chances took a dramatic hit. Any time an offense loses a top weapon, things do not look good. Head coach Matt LaFleur now has the task of ensuring the offense can resume clicking even without their most trustworthy pass-catcher. Musgrave had just 54 receiving yards entering Sunday and is now going to be hugely needed as the season continues on. The third-year tight end has shown that he has the ability to be a good offensive player, but filling Kraft’s shoes will be a tremendously tall task. While Packers fans search for signs of hope, let’s take a look back in time and see how Super Bowl contenders of the past were able to handle losing top offensive players. Historical Examples for Teams Making Deep Playoff Runs While Missing Top Offensive Players In 2022, the Los Angeles Rams demonstrated the ability to fight through significant injuries to their receiving corps. In Week 10 of the regular season, top wideout Robert Woods went down with a torn ACL. Later, the team lost tight end Tyler Higbee in the NFC Championship Game. Two of the team’s top receivers being out did not stop Matthew Stafford, Cooper Kupp, and trade acquisition Odell Beckham Jr. from winning the Super Bowl. In 2018, the Rams also made the Super Bowl despite Kupp tearing his ACL. While they of course lost the Super Bowl and only scored 3 points in the biggest game of the season, Woods and Brandin Cooks picked up the slack with Kupp being out. Ten years ago, in 2015, the Carolina Panthers lost their top receiver to an ACL tear before the season even started. Cam Newton’s favorite target Kelvin Benjamin never played a snap, but the Panthers went on a miraculous 15-1 season and reached the Super Bowl despite not being viewed as contenders entering the year. Of course, there are countless examples of teams that had the talent to go all the way but had injuries contribute to disappointing outcomes. Yet, even with that understanding, there is precedent for teams overcoming. Moving Forward Kraft is a special player, and the reality is, even great teams do not survive losing multiple top players. LaFleur will be expecting Musgrave as well as young receivers like Matthew Golden and Savion Williams to collectively fill the void in the offense. The margin for error for Jordan Love is dramatically smaller now. Without his most reliable pass-catcher, avoiding costly turnovers and inefficient play is more important that ever.

Three offseason trade targets for Blue Jays to add an impact bat

Three offseason trade targets for Blue Jays to add an impact bat

The Toronto Blue Jays and their fans are fresh off the most heartbreaking loss in franchise history. Putting the defending champion Los Angeles Dodgers on the brink of elimination with two cracks to win the World Series at home, only to lose two nail-biters that each came down to the final out. It’s going to take a long time to get over it, if that’s even possible to do. However, they'll have to turn the page rather quickly because in just three days, the negotiating window for free agents expires, and all are free to sign wherever they so choose. Toronto will be busy in an attempt to retain the likes of star shortstop Bo Bichette and starting pitchers Shane Bieber, Chris Bassitt and Max Scherzer. At the same time, the front office must be active in improving its roster from the outside, whether that’s via free agency or trade. While there are some intriguing names for the Blue Jays to target on the open market, given their needs, heading down the trade route could make the most sense. Here are three ideal trade targets for the Toronto Blue Jays to add an impactful left-handed bat to their lineup for 2025-26 and beyond: Oneil Cruz | Pittsburgh Pirates Cruz’s name popped up in trade rumors ahead of the deadline in August, and it’s fair to wonder if he still could be available if Pittsburgh gets the right offer. The 27-year-old has all of the tools to be one of the best hitters in baseball, standing at 6-foot-7, 240 pounds with extreme power and bat speed. His numbers last season (20 HRs, 61 RBI), while solid, didn't reflect his talent, but it's understandable given the lack of protection around him on the Pirates. In Toronto, Cruz could slot in behind Vladimir Guerrero Jr. and Bichette, immediately becoming the most dangerous left-handed hitter in a right-heavy lineup. Matt Wallner | Minnesota Twins The 39th overall pick back in 2019 may not publicly be on the trade block, but after its sell-off at the deadline, it doesn’t feel like anyone is untouchable in Minnesota. Like Cruz, Wallner, at 6-foot-4 and 220 pounds, has big-time power, and the Blue Jays saw that firsthand when he crushed three HRs and six RBI during their three-game series in Toronto in late August. He does have some swing and miss in his bat (.231 career average), but with how often the top of the Blue Jays lineup gets on base, all it takes is one swing for Wallner to put up a crooked number on the scoreboard. Jarren Duran | Boston Red Sox The 2024 All-Star Game MVP has been in constant trade discussions for over a year now, and it feels inevitable that he gets dealt out of Boston this winter. Duran had more of an up-and-down 2025 campaign, though he's displayed the ability to drive in runs (84 RBI) and has power with even more untapped potential. Combine that with his speed and athleticism, and you can see why so many teams would love to acquire him. Trading within the division is never easy, but the 29-year-old would be a perfect fit in the middle of Toronto's lineup, so it's something they should absolutely look into.
