R-Truth Announces Shocking Departure From WWE
WWE

WWE fans hoped that the post-WrestleMania cuts were done; unfortunately, they were not, and one more beloved WWE Superstar has been released by the company. Longtime veteran R-Truth recently took to social media to announce that WWE has let him go.

R-Truth Announced On His X.com Account That WWE Let Him Go

If ever there was a wrestler who seemed destined to be a WWE-lifer, it was the 53-year-old R-Truth. He shared the news on social media, expressing gratitude to WWE and his fans:

I’m sorry to inform you all. I just got released from WWE. I want to thank WWE for the ride, but MOSTLY I want to thank each and EVERYONE OF YOU who was along for the ride. Thank you for all the love, support, and appreciation you have given me over the years. Thank you.

It's a development that's a hard pill to swallow for many fans, especially since he was just involved with John Cena's retirement tour. Some fans thought that it might have been a joke, considering who R-Truth is and the shenanigans he's always up to, but unfortunately it is all too real.

The announcement was confirmed by wrestling journalist Sean Ross Sapp, who stated that R-Truth's departure is legitimate and that he will be leaving WWE upon the expiration of his current contract.

R-Truth's final WWE match occurred on May 28, 2025, where he faced JC Mateo on SmackDown. Prior to that, he competed against John Cena at WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event on May 24, 2025.

R-Truth Wanted To Quit Wrestling Years Ago

Right before it was officially announced that he was leaving WWE, R-Truth revealed on Chris Van Vliet's podcast that he wanted to quit wrestling a long time ago. The person who changed his mind? His former tag team partner, Road Dogg. Truth was ready to leave the industry behind back in the early 2000s, but the former DX member wanted to team with him. Truth quoted Road Dogg:

What? You feel like just giving up and quitting, but you made it here.

Road Dogg shared support for his friend on X, in a post that has since been deleted:

I am heartbroken. It’s the nature of the beast; the part of business that no one likes but the bean counters. I love Ron the Truth Killings and I don’t care who knows it. WHAT A RUN!
