Randy Orton is a changed man. While he has enjoyed success and been at or near the top of the card for most of his almost 25-year WWE career, likely by his own admission, The Viper is a lot more level-headed and grown-up today than he was five to ten years into that run. That's perfectly demonstrated by an interview he conducted more than a decade ago where he made some pretty outrageous accusations about Kelly Kelly.
Orton was a guest on 98 KUPD's Real Rock radio show in 2011, promoting an upcoming DVD and WWE as a whole. The fact that Orton was there to talk up a DVD should indicate the bygone era in which these comments were made, as should how the hosts spoke about Kelly Kelly, and female wrestlers in general, that prompted Orton to start shaming his WWE co-star himself.
Discussing a short-lived storyline years prior in which Orton and Kelly Kelly were an on-screen item, one of the hosts notes that they would have tried to do some method acting had they been in the same position. That's when Orton replies, "I could name a few method actors in WWE," implying that some people employed by the company had slept with Kelly Kelly.
Orton adds that he could "name ten guys" which, unsurprisingly, prompts the hosts to spend the next few minutes naming pretty much every WWE Superstar they know, hoping Orton will reveal who's on the list. The Viper chuckles when they mention Chris Jericho, replies with a flat no to Christian and Jack Swagger due to them being married, and is as annoyed as you or I would be when they refer to Edge as "The Edge".
The only one Orton replies yes to is Dolph Ziggler which is hardly a pipe bomb. Ziggler and Kelly Kelly dated between 2008 and 2010, and since this interview took place in 2011, not only was their relationship common knowledge, but it would have already been over. Another example of the hosts not being that clued in to the world of WWE.
Orton is, thankfully, a very different person nowadays. Not only would you not catch him saying anything close to this sort of thing in interviews in 2025, but he's pretty much a company man who keeps his nose clean in all of the best ways possible. He's also not afraid to call out WWE for things he doesn't agree with as he recently commented on the promoton's ballooning ticket prices.

Sunday evening saw the conclusion of the first two-night edition of the Premium Live Event, SummerSlam, in WWE history. The ending of Night 1 gave Night 2 quite the billing to live up to, and WWE may not have lived up to the bar it set. With the matches, though, came excellent performances and new champions, so here are four takeaways from Night 2. Women's triple threat was excellent Both Rhea Ripley and Iyo Sky were featured in a women's triple threat match for the second time in just three months, and along with WWE Women's Champion Naomi, the three succeeded. Ripley and Sky have such great chemistry in the ring together, but it was Naomi who picked up the victory and walked out of SummerSlam the same way she walked in, the women's world champion. Men's TLC match ruled SummerSlam featured the largest TLC (tables, ladders and chairs) match in WWE history, and all 12 men in the match delivered. Joe Gacy and Dexter Lumis of Wyatt Sicks walked in as the champions and also walked away as the champions. The rest of the tag teams were involved in some wild spots, but nobody may have taken a worse bump than Candice LeRae, who was not even involved in the match. Cena vs. Rhodes is a Match of the Year contender After their match at WrestleMania 41 didn't deliver, Cody Rhodes and John Cena put on a show in front of a crowd of 60,000. After months of playing the bad guy, Cena once again became his "Super Cena" personality and put on one of the best matches of his career. In the end, Rhodes was able to knock Cena off to become a two-time world champion, and the match will undoubtedly be considered one of the best of the year. The beast is back After his victory, Rhodes left the ring and allowed Cena to soak in the final moments of his last SummerSlam. He was rudely interrupted by a returning Brock Lesnar, who has not been seen in WWE in over two years. Lesnar marched to the ring and delivered an F5 to Cena, setting up a feud between the two that will more than likely wrap up at Clash in Paris. WWE will present Clash in Paris on Sunday, Aug. 31, live from Paris La Defense Arena, and it is shaping up to be one of the best events of the year.
SEATTLE — The Seattle Mariners added to their minor league bullpen depth by sending a familiar face to the Triple-A Tacoma Rainiers on Sunday. Mariners right-handed reliever Collin Snider was designated for assignment on July 30 following the club's trade acquisition of left-handed reliever Caleb Ferguson. Snider cleared waivers and he was sent to Tacoma outright. Snider hasn't made an appearance for Seattle in the majors in nearly two months. He was placed on the 15-day injured list with a right flexor strain June 4. He began a rehab assignment with Tacoma on July 5 and made nine appearances with the club. Snider was activated off the injured list the same day he was designated for assignment. Snider posted a 5.47 ERA with the Mariners with 24 strikeouts in 26.1 innings pitched across 24 appearances this year. While with the Rainiers, he had a 5.06 ERA with nine strikeouts in 10.2 innings pitched. Seattle claimed Snider off waivers from the Arizona Diamondbacks on Feb. 6, 2024, and had a career resurgence with the M's in 2024. Snider had a 1.94 ERA with 47 strikeouts in 41.2 innings pitched across 42 outings with the Mariners last season. Snider will provide Seattle with crucial reliever depth in the minors for the final two months of the season. The Mariners lost right-handed reliever Trent Thornton with a torn left Achilles tendon Thursday. Snider's will join many other Tacoma relievers who have made major league appearances for Seattle this season, including Troy Taylor, Tayler Saucedo, Casey Lawrence, Jesse Hahn, Jhonathan Diaz and others.
Now, the Steelers’ wide receiver room is in an interesting spot. With Pickens gone, Metcalf is the clear number one option, but there are questions about who will step up behind him. Meanwhile, Pickens seems to be enjoying his time in Dallas. He has taken a few subtle jabs at the Steelers, suggesting he is in a better place and even praising the Cowboys for their Super Bowl history. His comments have raised eyebrows among fans and analysts alike. One person who wasn’t impressed was ESPN’s Stephen A. Smith. During a passionate segment on First Take, Smith ripped into Pickens for his remarks about the Cowboys being a Super Bowl team. He reminded Pickens that the Steelers are the more successful franchise and questioned whether the receiver understood what he was saying. Smith didn’t hold back, calling on Pickens to "pick up a book" and making it clear that he found the comments not only disrespectful, but uninformed. "Let me pause for a second and look in the camera for a second at George Pickens," Smith said. "I like George Pickens. He can ball, and I am sorry that he is gone from the Steelers and has now been contaminated by that Dallas Cowboys fan base." Pickens’ comments were very interesting. It’s no secret he feels a certain way about how the Steelers traded him. He’s been trying to keep a positive mindset about his new situation in Dallas, but it’s clear he’s made it a priority to throw in a few subtle jabs. Pickens said he understands the camaraderie in Dallas more than he ever did with the Steelers. He also claimed the Cowboys are synonymous with Super Bowls, which was a controversial statement considering the Steelers have more championships all-time than Dallas. "Here’s the deal," Smith said. "George Pickens, do you have any idea? When you talk about the Super Bowl and the Cowboys, you do understand that the Steelers are the more successful franchise. Did you know that? Did you know that? Do you understand what the he** you are saying? I mean, my God, you talk about a brother who needs to pick up a book. I am sorry, but I just have to call him out on that." Smith made it very clear that he thinks Pickens is a great football player and that he’s still a fan of his, even though he’s no longer on the Steelers. When you consider what Pickens was able to accomplish during his three seasons in Pittsburgh, it’s impressive. He played in one of the worst offenses in the NFL, yet he still managed to produce and deliver some truly exciting moments despite the team’s struggles. Steelers Fans Still Curious About George Pickens Now he finds himself in a much better offensive situation in Dallas, but from a franchise and team standpoint, the Cowboys are in a worse position than the Steelers. That’s why Pickens’ recent comments didn’t make much sense and why Smith felt the need to call him out during his epic rant. Many Steelers fans remain divided on the Pickens trade. Although he’s no longer in Pittsburgh, a lot of fans will continue to keep tabs on how he performs with the Cowboys. Whether out of frustration, curiosity, or lingering support, Pickens' journey in Dallas will be closely watched by Steeler Nation.
It has been a fantastic season for the Chicago Cubs, and a significant reason is because of a singular offseason decision. After winning 83 games the past two seasons, the Cubs got aggressive during the offseason to improve. Chicago was a team that was heading in the right direction but lacking a superstar to help push them over the top. To the surprise of many, they were able to accomplish that with a blockbuster trade that brought Kyle Tucker of the Houston Astros in. Before being traded to Chicago, Tucker was establishing himself as a star with the Astros, but he may have flown under the radar a bit with some other big names on the team. For four straight years, he was able to total a bWAR of 4.5 or higher, with his bWAR being over 5.0 in three of those campaigns. Even though he might not have been a national name before the trade, Tucker was a key part of the success for Houston. Tucker's cost The price to acquire him certainly wasn’t cheap for the Cubs. They sent three very good players to the Astros, with Isaac Paredes and Cam Smith both having a massive impact already for Houston. It was a steep price for a player entering the final year of his contract, and that is something that is still looming over the heads of the organization. Kerry Miller of Bleacher Report recently predicted that Tucker would sign an 11-year, $441 million deal this offseason to remain with the Cubs. “Without so much as a close runner-up, Kyle Tucker is the crown jewel of this year's free agency class.” While the numbers might seem big for the proposed contract, Tucker is a true star in the game and is going to certainly be getting north of $400 million. When looking at the recent contract extension for Vladimir Guerrero Jr. of the Toronto Blue Jays, he is going to be making an average salary of just over $35 million per year throughout his contract. That seems like a fair spot to start for Tucker, who is going to be the top prize in free agency. Luckily, what could end up benefiting the Cubs is that there might not be a ton of competition to sign him in free agency. Juan Soto’s price went through the roof with the New York Mets and New York Yankees both pursuing him last winter. However, as of now, the market for Tucker might not be as crazy as it has been in recent years. For the Cubs, keeping Tucker this winter is going to be their top priority and would be a crushing blow if they lost him in free agency.
