  • Rey Fenix has been having contract issues with AEW for quite some time.
  • Fenix's contract with AEW has been terminated, making him a free agent.
  • The expectation is that he will go to the WWE with his brother, Penta.

Recently, All Elite Wrestling has been facing some issues with wrestlers not being used to their full potential but not being released for whatever reason. Things started to change with names like Ricky Starks, Malakai Black, and more, finally being let go of their contracts and getting the chance to find work elsewhere, like the WWE.

One name that has been very public about the issues they have been facing with AEW has been Rey Fenix. His brother and tag partner, Pentagon, left the promotion back at the end of November last year, with many expecting Fenix to follow suit. That wouldn't happen, of course, as it was reported that more time would be added to Fenix's contract due to time spent injured.

Rey Fenix Has Had Long Contract Problems With AEW

As reported on Fightful Select, Rey Fenix is officially done with AEW and is now a free agent with the ability to sign and work wherever he pleases. This was confirmed after it was noticed that Fenix was removed from the AEW roster page, similar to how the news broke of Ricky Starks, Malakai Black, and Miro were being let go earlier this year.

It was rumored that Fenix could have had much more time added to his contract due to that time spent being injured between October 2023 and April 2024, but obviously that wouldn't be the case.

It's Expected That Fenix Is Signing With WWE

Rey Fenix's brother, Pentagon, made the jump from AEW, debuting on the Netflix premiere of Monday Night Raw back in January. His run so far has been off to a stellar start, amassing wins over names like Chad Gable and Pete Dunne rather quickly.

Fightful Select was able to speak to some people in the WWE about the likelihood of Fenix joining the company, with it being considered a forgone conclusion that he would most likely join the main roster alongside his brother.
