Ricochet made his AEW debut at All In on Sunday. The former WWE mid-carder had been rumored to be heading to Tony Khan's company, with Will Ospreay leading the charge for the exceptional athlete to be signed. Now that Ricochet is officially All Elite, Ospreay has already begun laying down the gauntlet.
"There’s a long list of people he’s going to have to beat before he can call out the AEW International Champion," Ospreay said during the post-All In news conference. "... Now he’s under this microscope and maybe, just maybe, I called him out all of those times just to see if he’s got any b— ... So I’d like to see what he’s going to be doing here in AEW. I’m excited and I’m really happy for him."
After multiple years with WWE, Ricochet will undoubtedly want to remind the world what he's capable of. When he's given freedom inside the ring, he's one of the most exciting talents on the planet. He operates with a fearlessness that can sometimes be breathtaking while also being a technically gifted wrestler.
Still, Ricochet is unlikely to get an immediate title opportunity. He doesn't hold the same cache as Kazuchika Okada, who was rapidly anointed with the Continental Championship after signing with AEW. Instead, the high-flyer must prove himself and win over the fan base.
Of course, getting the fans on his side is easier when debuting at Wembley Stadium, although his participation in the Casino Battle Royale was arguably a waste of a debut. He may have been better served appearing in Ospreay's match against MJF.
Nevertheless, Ricochet is part of AEW's roster, and the hard work to prove he's still the talent we saw during his time with Lucha Underground and New Japan Pro Wrestling begins now. If he can reach that level once again, he will undoubtedly become one of the biggest draws in the company and prove to be another big loss for WWE.
