Professional wrestling and celebrity crossovers have always gone hand in hand. The very first WrestleMania in 1985 relied on big names like Mr. T and Cyndi Lauper to help make the event a massive success. Over the years, stars such as Mike Tyson, Lawrence Taylor, and Tyson Fury have stepped into the ring, but none have achieved the level of in-ring success that Logan Paul has.
The social media star joined WWE in 2021 and made his in-ring debut at WrestleMania 38, teaming up with The Miz against The Mysterios. Since then, Paul has quickly built a reputation as one of the fastest learners in WWE history, delivering standout performances against Roman Reigns for the WWE Championship at Crown Jewel and LA Knight at last year’s SummerSlam.
And it is safe to say that Sgt. Slaughter has nothing but high praise for the former United States Champion. In a recent interview, the WWE Hall of Famer boldly predicted that Paul could one day surpass legends like Hulk Hogan and Dusty Rhodes to become the biggest hero of all time.
Speaking with Bill Apter of Sportskeeda, the former WrestleMania main eventer shared his thoughts on Paul’s potential, where he called him a natural addition to the business. Moreover, he added that Paul already looks completely at home inside the ring and believes his future as a top babyface is inevitable.
Once he establishes himself as the biggest villain, he’ll be the biggest hero of all time. I think he’ll surpass every hero we’ve ever had in this business because once the people believe in him.

The former WWE Champion believes Paul’s future in the company is even brighter than his current success suggests. According to the Hall of Famer, once Paul fully establishes himself as the ultimate villain, his eventual turn to the good side will make him the most popular star the business has ever seen. He once again iterated that ‘The Maverick’ is already better than many legends and icons of the business.
He’ll be better than all of us. He’s only had about 30 matches, and he’s already main evented. I wish I could go back and be his manager or something. Just show him a couple of hitches he needs to fix. He has everything else. He can do everything they ask him to do, he just doesn’t have the psychology of what it takes to be that villain.

Slaughter did add that Paul still needs to fine-tune the psychology of what it takes to be that villain, but he emphasized that the YouTube star already has all the other tools needed to become a top WWE superstar.
Logan Paul picked up a big win at the first-ever two-night SummerSlam, teaming with Drew McIntyre to defeat Randy Orton and Grammy-winning star Jelly Roll in the musician’s WWE debut. But it was at last month’s Clash in Paris where Paul arguably delivered the best performance of his career.
In an instant classic against John Cena, Paul went toe-to-toe with the veteran in a 25-minute thriller. Both men exchanged multiple finishers from other WWE legends like Cesaro, Dolph Ziggler , and AJ Styles , a tribute by Cena to some of his greatest rivals during his ongoing retirement tour.
Although Paul came up short in front of a red-hot Paris crowd, the match not only cemented his standing as a top performer but also deepened his respect for Cena. In a recent episode of his IMPAULSIVE podcast, the former United States title holder had nothing but respect for Cena.
About halfway through the match, I felt very viscerally two things. One, holy [S], John Cena is so [F] good. He just… he is that good.

Paul couldn’t stop praising the 17-time world champion after their showdown, calling Cena an absolute mastermind of the craft and even comparing him to one of the greatest artists of all time.
I’m in there in the ring with literally the greatest of all time. Not only working, but admiring and also learning. … That was my last match with John Cena. He wrestles better than Pablo Picasso paints….. Working with him was such a privilege… I leveled up not just like, I climbed a couple rungs of the ladder that night, but also in my ability to assess our work.

Paul described the match as a transformative experience, saying he was able to stay fully present and appreciate the moment as it unfolded. That respect is mutual, as Cena himself praised Paul ahead of their Paris clash, calling him underrated and emphasizing that he is not an outsider, despite the negative reputation that sometimes comes with his celebrity status. Cena even went a step further, predicting championship success for Paul in the near future.
