Hulk Hogan passed away suddenly last month, and as you might expect, just about everyone from wrestling history attended his funeral. That includes Matt Riddle, who recently revealed that he had an awkward run-in with Shane McMahon, likely seeing him for the first time since the two of them were backstage together during the 2022 Royal Rumble.

Matt Riddle Details Awkward Clash With Shane McMahon At Hulk Hogan's Funeral

Speaking on TMZ Sports' Inside The Ring, Riddle revealed that he attended Hogan's funeral, confirming some of the WWE higher-ups, current and former, that he didn't have the chance to interact with. Vince McMahon was there, who Riddle notes stayed off to the side, and he also mentions not getting the chance to speak with Paul, who I'm assuming is Paul Levesque, better known to fans as Triple H.

Riddle did have a run-in with Shane O'Mac, though, and it sounds like it could have gone better.

I did see Shane McMahon, and the first thing he said to me, and he said it sarcastically, was, ‘Hey, nice hair.'... He said that to me, and I told him to go F himself and walked away. To be fair, he was being sarcastic when I told him to go F off. But, you know, in the world of pro wrestling, you never know. He might’ve taken that seriously - Matt Riddle

Matt Riddle Has A History Of Falling Out With People In WWE

The nice hair comment from Shane was presumably a reference to the fact that Riddle has recently dyed his hair red. With the former WWE Tag Team Champion being out of the wrestling spotlight and Shane not paying as close attention as he might have done to the business in the past, he was likely taken aback at seeing it for the first time.

Even though Shane isn't directly connected to WWE any longer - there was a point where he came closer than you might think to working with AEW - the awkward interaction won't have helped Riddle's stock. Riddle was released by WWE in 2023, and footage of the wrestler clashing with airport security that may have contributed to his being cut surfaced after he was let go.

On top of that, Riddle's issues with various top stars that are currently signed to WWE are well-documented. Riddle and Lesnar seemingly don't get along, the free agent claims he has made up with Roman Reigns, although that remains unconfirmed, and he takes whatever chance he can get to slate CM Punk whenever anyone is willing to listen. Riddle also doesn't appear to be welcome in AEW either.
