According to Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful Select, "WWE sources confirmed to @FightfulSelect that LA Knight still has years left on his WWE deal, and were surprised that some fans considered Monday's angle a burial." They added that there was a lot more to the story than fans realize, including details on any heat that he might have garnered over the Jey Uso sign that he showed during WWE programming.
One source explained that it was all part of the creative direction they were taking with Knight.
“It was a standard story beat that will be revisited.”
So, no. Knight was not being taken off of WWE programming because he held up a sign that might have made Jey Uso look back. He is not in the doghouse with the company. At best, they are giving him some time off to rest before returning.
In fact, the belief is that WWE will be pushing LA Knight heavily when he returns. The end of Monday's RAW, in which Bronson Reed took him out, was the start of a central angle after some time off. He was also heavily featured in other parts of the show, including when he played a role in Rey Mysterio getting blindsided by Logan Paul and the masked man.
WWE is aware that Knight is very over with the fans.
Some fans believed he was being “buried” like it was a bad thing. The opposite is true because his being buried is the start of his comeuppance. He got beaten down, but only to build sympathy for when he returns as the megababyface.
