Stephanie Vaquer is playing a dangerous game with her career

Stephanie Vaquer has reportedly signed with WWE. The former CMLL and New Japan Pro Wrestling talent "removed herself" from the rosters of both companies despite still being under contract.

Vaquer had risen up the ranks of CMLL to become the face of its women's division. Her stock was rising among NJPW fans, too. She also took the AEW crowd by storm during her appearance at "Forbidden Door" on June 30, where she faced arguably the most popular female talent in the world: Mercedes Mone.

The upcoming "Fantastica Mania USA" crossover event between NJPW and CMLL is set to take part in San Jose on Saturday. Both companies had been heavily marketing her presence at the event and have now been forced to inform fans that she will no longer be on the card.

Vaquer's actions will undoubtedly leave a sour taste in the mouths of NJPW and CMLL officials. The fact that she pulled out of her contract to sign with WWE will undoubtedly put pressure on her to succeed in her new surroundings.

Vaquer will likely struggle to find a roster spot outside of WWE. Therefore, she must make herself indispensable to the wrestling giant or risk being stuck on the indie scene for the remainder of her career.

WWE's action will likely make things difficult for it to create partnerships with either company, too, despite the glowing success of the early work alongside TNA.

Vaquer has risked it all to make the jump to WWE. She could have seen out the remainder of her current contract before joining the company and kept her professional reputation intact. Instead, she's acted like a mercenary.

Vaquer is gambling with her career, and now, she must hope that the gamble pays off.
