  • Stone Cold warned me in 2008 to leave — I had heat with Triple H, Shawn Michaels and John Cena.
  • Austin urged me to go to Japan or TNA to get over; I stayed for pay and now regret it.
  • Burned bridges and lack of popularity likely mean no full-time WWE comeback despite my 'it factor'.

Former WWE star Mr. Kennedy (Ken Anderson) spoke about his past run in WWE, noting that he was warned far before his tumultuous exit to take off because the warning signs were there that he wasn't in good standing with people.

Austin Told Kennedy To Get Out

Kennedy spoke recently in a recent interview, saying that Stone Cold Steve Austin actually called him in 2008 and told him to leave. "He called me one day and was like 'Kid get the f--k outta there. You got too much heat with the wrong people." He added, while doing his best Austin impersonation: “He goes Triple H hates your guts. Shawn Michaels hates your guts. John Cena hates your guts. That’s a bad combination kid.”

He said that Austin recommended he go to Japan or TNA. "...get yourself over, do stuff there get away from it for a while. You can always come back. I just couldn't f---ing bring myself to pull that trigger, and you know the paychecks were pretty good. I just couldn't pull myself away. In hindsight, Kennedy says he wished he had taken Austin's advice.

"I honestly do. But it is what it is."

Could Things Have Been Different For Mr. Kennedy?

The fact that he left WWE as a somewhat hated man has hampered his ability to return. You can never say never in WWE, but, outside of a Royal Rumble appearance or a quick spot, his time has probably come and gone. He's not necessarily popular enough for another full-time run, and there may be too many bridges burned, especially if Triple H was one of the people who didn't like him.

That said, imagine how things might have turned out if Kennedy left before he really had heat he couldn't fix with some of the most important people in WWE. This was a star who many believed had an incredibly bright future. He had that "it factor" that a lot of talents strive for but never achieve.

As to why so many people didn't like him, that one's still a bit of a mystery.
