The Texas Super Kings (TSK) continued their strong start in MLC 2025, beating the Los Angeles Knight Riders (LAKR) by 57 runs to make it two wins in two games.
Batting first again, TSK put up 181 for 4, almost the same total as in their first match . Thanks to good contributions from several players. Devon Conway gave the team a solid start with 34 runs off 22 balls. Saiteja Mukkamalla added 31 from 22 balls, sharing a valuable 57-run partnership with Conway after captain Faf du Plessis got out early.
By the eighth over, TSK had 74 runs on the board. Daryl Mitchell kept the innings steady with 36 not out from 33 balls, while Shubham Ranjane added 24 from 19. In the final overs, Donovan Ferreira played a powerful knock, scoring 32 not out from just 16 balls to help TSK reach a strong total. Though 200-plus scores are common at this ground, 181 was still competitive.
LAKR’s chase got off to a poor start. Adam Milne struck early to dismiss Andre Fletcher and bowled a tight spell, finishing with 2 for 8. LAKR’s partnerships were small. Alex Hales (25 from 17) and Unmukt Chand (22 from 23) added 27 runs, and Chand later added 28 with Matthew Tromp (23 from 12). But the team couldn’t keep up with the required run rate.
The star of the match was 19-year-old spinner Noor Ahmad. He bowled brilliantly, taking 4 for 25 and removing key batters including Andre Russell, Sunil Narine, Matthew Tromp, and Nitish Kumar. His clever bowling ended LAKR’s hopes as they were all out for 124.
Noor, who was the top wicket-taker for Chennai Super Kings in IPL 2025, was named Player of the Match. Daryl Mitchell also played a key role with good catches and a wicket.
With this win, TSK stays unbeaten and look like early favourites in the tournament. LAKR, meanwhile, are still looking for their first win.
