The Pop-Tarts Bowl Mascot had Social Media Buzzing After a Wildly Successful 1st Game
Nathan Ray Seebeck-USA TODAY Sports

The Pop-Tarts Bowl began with the mascot emerging from a toaster , flanked by pyrotechnics and playing to the crowd like Shawn Michaels. After a Kansas State victory, it ended with the mascot getting eaten by the victorious Wildcats. In between, there was a Pop-Tart cam, fraternization with the referees, and the Pop-Tarts Bowl mascot running for its life immediately after the game. It was a wild ride.

Pop-Tarts Bowl Reactions

What Happened in the Game?

Believe it or not, the Pop-Tarts Bowl featured a football game between #18 NC State and #25 Kansas State, two tough teams. The Kansas State Wildcats raced out to a 21-7 lead, but when the fourth quarter rolled around, the NC State Wolfpack only trailed 21-19. That set up a tense fourth quarter for a Pop-Tarts Bowl victory.

Neither team scored until the Wildcats found the end zone with 2:48 remaining. NC State got the ball back down nine and proceeded to throw an interception on their first offensive snap. A lot of attention was turned toward excellent marketing from Pop-Tarts, but the on-field product was also entertaining. Overall, the inaugural Pop-Tarts Bowl was a success.
