The Reason Gunther Attacked Seth Rollins on WWE Raw

Since his return at the Elimination Chamber, Seth Rollins has been on a mission. He originally attacked Bron Breakker and Logan Paul, but that’s not who he was truly after. The man he wanted all along was Paul Heyman. Even though Heyman turned on CM Punk and Roman Reigns to join him, he now wants to get rid of them. When Breakker and Bronson Reed attacked him, he knew they weren’t behind the betrayal.

Heyman was the man behind everything. For weeks now, he has been antagonizing him, wanting to give him one last stomp. He nearly succeeded on the March 30, 2026, episode of Monday Night Raw. But a returning Gunther got him in a sleeper hold and declared him his opponent at WrestleMania: Vegas. Was Gunther acting alone, desperately wanting to retire another man, or was Heyman in his ear the whole time?

Gunther Wants to Add Rollins to His List of Retired Wrestlers

The last couple of months have been great for Gunther. Last summer, he retired Goldberg at Saturday Night’s Main Event. Then he beat John Cena in his final match. Finally, he defeated AJ Styles at this year’s Royal Rumble. All three of those men went on to retire, leading to a new nickname for him as the Career Killer. Now, it seems that he has set his sights on Rollins. It makes sense, as he’s been wrestling for over a decade.

A new generation is coming up, including Carmelo Hayes, Oba Femi, and Trick Williams. For them to truly take over, some wrestlers will have to leave or retire. Gunther is skipping over the release part and giving them their last match. He sees Rollins as the roadblock preventing the young stars from shining, so he’ll do anything he can to retire him.

He Was a Last-Second Replacement Sent by The Oracle

The Vision has been significantly understaffed for months. Both Breakker and Reed have been out with injuries, and there’s no telling when they’ll be back. Theory and Logan Paul are the only healthy members, with them winning the World Tag Team Championship that same night.

Given the fact that they were probably celebrating all night, that left Heyman alone. Either he was going to do something, or he would get attacked just like he was two weeks ago. Knowing his reputation, it’s possible he made a last-minute call to Gunther to take care of Rollins.

Gunther didn’t have a WrestleMania match at the time, and he has beaten some heavy hitters lately. Heyman had to call someone impactful who would surely beat down Rollins without any chance of resistance. It seems like he made a great decision by calling in Gunther.

What Will He Have to Say About the Attack?

A lot of fans are probably wondering those same questions after witnessing the attack. Was this a predetermined beatdown by Gunther, or was he Heyman’s last chance of being saved? Either way, the answer will more than likely be answered on next Monday’s Raw. Both answers are certainly plausible for many reasons. To him, Rollins could definitely be next in line to be retired, as he is one of the most experienced men on the main roster.

Why would he stop when he’s been so successful? He could also be helping Heyman out. Getting involved with Rollins after becoming World Tag Team Champions wouldn’t be smart for Paul and Theory. With Breakker and Reed out, he needed another hand at the moment, which is why he called Gunther. He was able to temporarily restrain Rollins so that their WrestleMania match could be established.
