WWE WrestleMania 43 will be held in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, marking the first time WWE will hold "The Showcase of the Immortals" outside of North America. With an event of this magnitude, WWE and Saudi Arabian officials reportedly want to bring one "immortal" star back for the event: Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson.
According to Dave Meltzer, those close to the Saudi Arabia General Entertainment Authority "claimed negotiations for Dwayne Johnson were advancing and they believed the deal was close to being finalized.”
Meltzer also reports, "The impression is that the final payment number for the show will be affected by whether or not they get The Rock in the main event. The idea is that the individual payoff for Johnson would be multiple times that of any pro wrestler for any event in history.”
While The Rock is currently occupied with The Smashing Machine's premiere success, it only makes sense for the WWE legend and TKO board member to be an integral part of WrestleMania 43.
Early predictions suggest his opponent will either be current WWE Champion Cody Rhodes or his real-life cousin, "The Tribal Chief" Roman Reigns. With The Rock being 54 years old by then, the match could be promoted as his final one.
The Rock has not been seen on WWE television since Elimination Chamber 2025, where he and rapper Travis Scott played a key role in John Cena’s memorable heel turn.
Fans have been critical of WWE’s follow-up to their involvement, with no explanation given for why The Rock and Scott were part of John Cena and Cody Rhodes’ storyline.
While we likely will not see The Rock involved in WWE storylines for the next six months as he prepares for movie award season, fans should expect "The Final Boss" to return to WWE programming in 2026 to establish a major match for WrestleMania 43.
