The Undertaker reveals how Logan Paul would have fit into the Attitude Era

Though the WWE Universe is currently in one of the hottest periods of all time, with the product so popular that outsiders like Logan Paul, Bad Bunny, and Sexy Red are eager to insert themselves into the product in order to capitalize on the promotion’s popularity.

But how, you may ask, does the product compare to the WWF of the past, when the promotion was all about Attitude? Well The Undertaker decided to discuss that on his Six Feet Under podcast, noting just how different everything is today versus back in the day.

“The talent themselves are so different, society is so different, and the way people came up is so different,” The Undertaker explained on his Six Feet Under podcast via talkSPORT. “They have no way to relate to a lot of the things we did, so that’s why it wouldn’t work. The talent that’s out here now, you have to take what they know and let them take that and let it grow. You can’t force something that they don’t know anything about.”

Asked if someone like Logan Paul would fit in during the Attitude Era, Taker couldn’t definitively say either way, as he felt there was no parallel for his kind of stardom at the time.

“It’s hard for me to give an affirmative ‘Yes’ to that… but I understand what you’re saying. Regardless of talent level – this has nothing to do with talent level, potential or anything else – they would never have gotten those opportunities in the Attitude Era,” The Undertaker noted. “Our fanbase back then would not have accepted any of those guys whatsoever, because the roster and everything we did… it was just a different time period. Nowadays, everything is internet… that’s what everybody knows now. That’s why somebody like him can come along… he’s talented and can do a lot of things. That’s why guys like him, guys like [Bad] Bunny, and all those guys get that because it’s a sign of the times.”

While there may not have been internet culture back in the day, Vince McMahon and company were no strangers to celebrity interactions in the WWE Universe, as Donald Trump – among others – was a fixture of programming to the point where he had a “Battle of the Billionaires” with the former Chairman of the Board in a hair versus hair match wrestled by Bobby Lashley and Umage. And yet, a performer like Paul is wholly different because he is actually doing the wrestling, instead of just hitting his signature line while serving as a manager. If, say, Freddie Prinze Jr. decided to do a similar career move 20 years ago and produced the same level of athletics feats, it’s safe to assume that he would have gotten over, too.

Booker T weighs in on Logan Paul versus Cody Rhodes at KQotR.

Speaking of Logan Paul, Booker T recently weighed in on his forthcoming match at King and Queen of the Ring, where the “Maverick” will challenge Cody Rhodes for the WWE Championship in Saudi Arabia. While plenty of fans are upset to learn that only one belt will be on the line at the show, especially considering Rhodes talked extensively about his desire to become a Grand Slam Champion, in the end, Booker revealed on his Hall of Fame podcast that he feels that WWE made the right call, as he doesn’t much care for double champions.

“I feel like Cody’s title should just be on the line. Personally, I’m not often into one guy having two titles, even though I’ve been a double champion before, and it felt good. It felt really, really good, but no, I’m not one to take that route, as far as one guy having two titles. In a match-up like this, I feel like the big title, Cody Rhodes’ title, should be on the line, just to make it a little bit more intriguing,” Booker T explained via Fightful.

“Cody, he’s smart, man. Logan Paul, he’s a guy that has shown that he can go out and do it under the bright lights, on the biggest stages. He’s shown that he can go out and perform. With Cody Rhodes, together, those guys can go out there and create some beautiful magic. Cody’s a pro. He’s gonna know exactly how to put Logan in the best positions. Logan seems to be smart enough to go out and perform at a very, very high level. Sometimes, it’s like that deja vu effect. It seems like he’s been here once before. So I just give that kid a lot of props because I haven’t seen one like him come along before, seriously. Logan Paul is not someone from this business, but it seems like, from a timing perspective, from knowing how to go out and perform on both ends, he’s that d**n good. I give him big props.”

What does WWE have planned for this match? Will Rhodes win it cleanly? Or will Paul do something fishy to force a DQ, finally caught for his cheating ways and setting things up for an even bigger match in the future at, say SummerSlam in his hometown of Cleveland, Ohio, with both belts on the line? Fans will have to tune in this weekend to find out.
