Tommaso Ciampa Is Reportedly Leaving WWE

It looks like WWE is kicking off 2026 with a pretty significant departure. Two weeks after losing the Tag Team Championships on SmackDown, reports are swirling that claim Tommaso Ciampa won't be signing a new deal with the company, and that he will be leaving when his current contract expires.

Tommaso Ciampa Is Seemingly Done With WWE

That's according to a new report shared by Bodyslam.net. The finer details of what has led to Ciampa's WWE departure are currently unclear. All that's known for now is that the long-time Superstar, and someone who once felt as if he was being groomed to work directly under Triple H for a very long time, will leave the company if nothing changes between now and the end of his contract.

With very little information to go on other than Ciampa's WWE exit seemingly being imminent, there are a few roads that could have led the former NXT Champion here. He may have been offered an extension, perhaps even a whole new deal, but he and WWE couldn't agree on terms.

There's also the possibility that Ciampa hasn't been offered a new deal at all. That, like so many others under WWE's TKO ownership, rather than be released, as was usually the case when Vince McMahon was in charge, Ciampa has simply been informed that, when his current deal expires, he won't be getting a new one.

Ciampa Felt Like He Might Be A WWE Lifer

While that's a very real possibility, Ciampa's history, particularly his recent history, with WWE, would make that feel like an odd call by the company. Particularly when you would hope Triple H is among the group of people at the top of the chain making these calls. As noted above, Ciampa has been a favorite of The Game's since his NXT days. A top player during the final days of the brand's black and gold era, it's a little surprising that Ciampa hasn't risen any higher on the main roster, especially with Triple H in charge.

It's also possible that's exactly why Ciampa is leaving. That this is a decision he has taken upon himself, having not been used in a way that he might have envisioned since making the permanent step up from NXT to the main roster. Aside from why he's leaving, what's also currently unclear is how long exactly Ciampa has on his current deal.

That will be what dictates how much more we see of Ciampa in WWE, but unless an official party weighs in, it's difficult to pinpoint when exactly that might be. Ciampa was called up to the main roster in April 2022. If I were to hazard a guess, I'd assume he signed a main roster contract at that time, potentially for three years. The former tag champ was out injured for around eight months at the end of 2022 and into 2023, and if those eight months were tacked onto the end of his deal, then that brings us up to the beginning of 2026.
