If we reflect on past months, Travis Scott appeared to be about to jump straight into the WWE universe. Unannounced cameos to major headlines, the rapper appeared to be all in on entering the squared circle. But now, he has entirely disappeared into oblivion, and the fans have a question: what happened?
Travis Scott came out as a surprise to the WWE Universe at Elimination Chamber in Toronto back on March 1. He not only entered the ring alongside John Cena and The Rock but also went to brutally confront Cody Rhodes.
Scott even landed a contentious haymaker on Rhodes’ head, which supposedly ruptured his eardrum. After the match, a video circulated in the media in which he was talking to Triple H. He was pleased and informed the WWE executive that he had a blast, and he was also considering going pro, saying he wanted to train and he wanted a full-time wrestling gig.
WWE was taking the rapper very seriously. Weeks later, Scott appeared at WrestleMania 41 in Las Vegas, where he helped John Cena defeat Cody Rhodes to secure the Undisputed WWE Championship. Although Cena defeated his opponent, many fans considered the outcome of the match a dodgy win for Cena, due to Travis’ interference.
Some fans and speculators loved Scott’s role, but others criticized him. WWE was also lambasted by the wrestling community because Scott’s involvement seemed episodic and not linked to the plot. His increased appearances nonetheless had an air of inevitability about them, as they would happen shortly after in the ring. But nothing changed.
Since SummerSlam, with no sign of Travis Scott, rumors about the falling out between Scott and WWE began to emerge. Fuel was added to the fire when, during his April 3 rematch with Rhodes, John Cena made a subtle remark suggesting Scott and The Rock were no longer involved.
Neither Scott nor WWE has made an official statement yet. However, the abrupt removal of one of the most prominent music stars to wrestling’s most significant stage has left the fans in a speculative mood. Will Travis Scott ever come back and finally appear in the ring? Is that dream now gone?
