WWE Chief Content Officer Paul “Triple H” Levesque has teased one major star that will be part of Wrestlepalooza. From the sounds of it, Seth Rollins won’t be the WWE Champion to be part of the upcoming premium live event.

As a guest on the latest episode of The Pat McAfee Show, Triple H confirmed that Cody Rhodes is going to be part of the event. He didn’t give any more details other than confirming that the Undisputed WWE Champion was going to be in the first PLE to stream on the ESPN app. He said:
“I’ll give you a spoiler right now, Cody [Rhodes] will be back, Indianapolis.”
Cody was written off of TV after being brutally attacked by Drew McIntyre on the August 8 episode of Friday Night SmackDown. The reason that Rhodes was written off from WWE TV was due to filming the newStreet Fightermovie. The American Nightmare also recently became a father of two. Cody and Brandi announced the birth of their second daughter on August 29.
It’s Unclear Who Cody Rhodes Will Face At Wrestlepalooza
At first, it was thought that Rhodes and McIntyre would be in a match against each other with Cody’s title on the line at Wrestlepalooza on September 20, but according to last Friday’s The Wrestling Observer Newsletter,Dave Meltzer believes that’s not the case now. It’s now believed that McIntyre will be facing Randy Orton instead at Wrestlepalooza. Meltzer wrote:
“The originally scheduled Cody Rhodes vs. Drew McIntyre WWE title match scheduled for the show was, at last word, said to be still up in the air, and it could be McIntyre vs. Randy Orton.”
If that’s the case, it will be interesting to see who will be Cody’s opponent, if it’s not Drew. It wouldn’t be a bad idea to have a three-way match for the WWE Championship, either — Cody Rhodes defending against Drew McIntyre and Randy Orton.
Wrestlepalooza is already a pretty stacked card with four confirmed matches. The card includes:
So fans will just have to wait and see what role Cody will have in the first WWE main roster PLE in the ESPN era. Either way, it sounds like whoever he faces, the title will be on the line. Rhodes has been the Undisputed WWE Champion since defeating then-champion John Cena at SummerSlam.
