The G1 Climax B Block qualifier tournament kicked off today in Kamisu on NJPW’s New Japan Soul tour.

Oleg Boltin defeated Toru Yano in the first tournament match on the show after countering a low blow attempt into a cradle for the pin. Yano’s elimination means he will not be entered into the G1 for the first time since 2007. Boltin now moves on to wrestle Hiroshi Tanahashi, who received a first-round bye, in the semifinals on July 3 at Korakuen Hall.

TJP defeated Satoshi Kojima in the second tournament match on Sunday after countering a lariat into a pinning combination. He will now wrestle Taichi, who also received a first-round bye, in the semifinals.

The winners of Boltin vs. Tanahashi and TJP vs. Taichi will wrestle on July 5 at the Tokyo Budokan. The winner of that match earns the final spot in the B Block for G1 Climax 34.

The A Block qualifying tournament kicked off yesterday in Fukushima. Callum Newman and YOSHI-HASHI advanced after defeating Yujiro Takahashi and Chase Owens respectively. YOSHI-HASHI will wrestle Tomohiro Ishii in the semifinals and Newman will wrestle KENTA.
