WWE Hall of Famer The Undertaker may be stepping out of the shadows in more ways than one. According to recent comments from Lucha Libre legend and recent announcer at Worlds CollideKonnan, the iconic Deadman has been actively contributing to WWE’s creative direction during recent major events, including Money in the Bank. Konnan hints that The Undertaker is interested in a more active role on the creative team, which would make for a fascinating directional shift.
Konnan revealed the news on his podcast, suggesting that The Undertaker has been lending his voice behind the scenes, potentially signaling a formal or semi-official role within WWE’s creative team. While WWE has not confirmed any such move -- and may not since they don't typically announce these types of hires -- the move would make sense given the company’s current leadership under Paul “Triple H” Levesque. The two of them are friends, and there is a huge level of respect for The Undertaker, who has gotten involved in several WWE projects since retiring.
The Undertaker, real name Mark Calaway, has been seen on the new show LFG and has his One Deadman show that WWE helps promote. He's been much more active in the podcast world, telling stories about his WWE career, and what goes on behind the scenes. This was something fans never would have envisioned for a Hall of Famer that truly believed in kayfabe (keeping things a secret).
On his own Six Feet Under podcast, he shared his personal struggles after retiring, including his reduced involvement in the show. This could be why he's getting involved in creative projects, feeling like he still has his hands on the product he loves so much.
The timing of his reported involvement is particularly interesting. Not only has Triple H received a bit of criticism lately for his recent creative decisions, but fans are already wondering if the Undertaker's input has been portrayed on screen.
His "old school" preferences and admiration with Gunther might have contributed to The Ring General recently reclaiming the World Heavyweight Championship.
If The Phenom is indeed stepping into a creative role, it will be fun to see if fans can identify where he might have his fingerprints on the product.
