What Does the Future Hold for WWE’s Kairi Sane?

The September 22, 2025, episode of WWE Monday Night Raw was a very emotional one for Kairi Sane. For weeks, she has had to watch her friends, Asuka and Iyo Sky, fight with each other without much resolution. She has been stuck in the middle of the conflict with nowhere to go. Things got way worse for her during the main event of Raw.

First, she got hit with the Empress Impact by Asuka, knocking her down and allowing Rhea Ripley to get the pin. Then, after Sky entered the ring to stop the post-match beatdown, the two hugged each other. Finally, Asuka hit Sky with a spinning back fist, forcing Sane to hit her and do the insane elbow. In a span of a few minutes, Sane was hit with a flurry of emotions. Will she stay with Asuka, or will she join Sky’s side in the coming months?

Sane Will Stay in Fear of Retaliation

The tactics used by Asuka are hardly new behavior in the wrestling world. Someone who is ordering someone else around does so because they know loyalty will be a given. We’ve seen this with Roman Reigns and the Usos when they were with the Bloodline. Chad Gable did not have a lot of nice things to say about the Alpha Academy, and particularly Otis. They never walked out for months in fear of what they were going to do to them.

The same thing that happened to them is what’s happening to Sane. It’s clear that Asuka is forcing her to do things that she doesn’t want to do. Looking at her facial expressions tell the whole story. She was clearly not happy beating down Sky, but she had to do it to please Asuka. Sane will stay by her side in order to not make her angry.

She Will Eventually Turn on Asuka

No matter who wins, Asuka will be wanting retribution against her opponents. That will surely force Sane into more beatdowns against someone she still silently views as a friend. If she was getting that worked up on Raw, she’ll definitely snap if she’s forced to do it again. Turning on Asuka then would be the right move, as she knows she is doing something wrong. Sane sticking up for Sky would be a great way to convey to Asuka that she is mistreating someone she called a friend.

What Will Sane End Up Doing?

Sane is in a difficult spot right now. She wants to stick up for Sky, who is clearly hurting both emotionally and physically. But she is unable to do so due to her attachment to Asuka. Just like the Usos and Otis as recent examples, she is stuck due to fear of retribution by Asuka. If the tag match does get confirmed for Crown Jewel, these next few weeks will be very interesting.

Will Sane start to show hints of turning and protecting Sky or will she be obedient until the inevitable beatdown in Perth? It’s clear that by her body language and facial expressions, she isn’t happy about her situation. WWE is setting up something big happening sooner rather than later. Sane may be conflicted now, but she’ll have to face her dilemma head on very soon to get her back to the happy woman everyone knows.
