Why The Street Profits are WWE’s Loss

The Wyatt Sicks retained their WWE Tag Team Championship against The Street Profits at Clash in Paris 2025. Founded in 2016 by Angelo Dawkins and Montez Ford, The Street Profits have earned tag team gold on multiple occasions. However, their success has recently begun to fade, leaving the two superstars, who proudly proclaim they “want the smoke,” struggling to maintain their prominence.

The Street Profits’ WWE Journey

Angelo Dawkins and Montez Ford formed The Street Profits in 2016 and went on to capture championship gold across every brand they joined. They became Evolve Tag Team Champions in 2018, followed by the NXT Tag Team Championship in 2019. In 2020, they secured the Raw Tag Team Championships and later the SmackDown Tag Team Championships from the fall of 2020 until January 2021. Most recently, they held the WWE Tag Team Championships for 119 days in 2025, marking their second reign as champions.

Why have The Street Profits Become Obscure in WWE?

WWE brought The Street Profits to the main roster in 2019 as part of the draft, where they entertained fans with their “We Want The Smoke” catchphrase. Initially, the company was high on them, and their presentation reflected this enthusiasm. However, the pandemic disrupted their momentum, and over time, both the company and fans began to lose interest.

While WWE reportedly saw potential in Montez Ford as a singles superstar, this was not reflected in their booking. The team’s performances remained strong, but they failed to translate into significant opportunities. Their loss at Clash in Paris 2025 underscored WWE’s apparent view that The Street Profits are not main event material.

The Street Profits Missed WWE SmackDown This Week

The Street Profits were absent from the SmackDown episode following Clash in Paris 2025. Notably, WWE had briefly integrated B-Fab into the group, only to remove her for a singles run and then reintegrate her without clear reasoning. Despite the duo’s undeniable talent and strong in-ring performances, WWE seems to overlook their efforts.

The return of Brock Lesnar and AJ Lee on the same SmackDown episode would have overshadowed any potential appearance by The Street Profits. Even if they had appeared, their presence might have been diminished. For The Street Profits to regain their spark, WWE needs to craft a compelling storyline or presentation to make them stand out.

Should The Street Profits Change Brands in WWE?

While exploring new opportunities can be beneficial when undervalued, a brand change could significantly help The Street Profits. SmackDown’s tag team division is already stacked with teams like The Wyatt Sicks, DIY, Melo Don’t Miz, Andrade and Rey Fenix, Fraxiom, and The Motor City Machine Guns. Angelo Dawkins and Montez Ford seem lost in this crowded field, often overlooked by the company.

Raw General Manager, Adam Pearce could seize the opportunity to bring The Street Profits to his roster, offering them a fresh start. Facing new challengers like The New Day, The Judgment Day, or The Vision’s Bronson Reed and Bron Breakker could elevate their status. However, the critical question remains whether WWE would consider and approve such a move.
