"Macho Man" Randy Savage is one of the most famous wrestlers in the history of the business. Next to Hulk Hogan, he was the most popular WWE superstar during the company's Golden Era. After being pushed out of WWE due to his age, Savage jumped ship to WCW and found great success there as both a babyface and heel during the Monday Night Wars. During his legendary run, Savage made many friends in the industry. Here are just a few of them.

Diamond Dallas Page

DDP’s WCW Run Took Off Thanks To Savage’s Unselfishness

WCW made a huge move to turn Diamond Dallas Page face and have him stand up to the New World Order. However, a big win is typically needed for a mid-carder to get to the next level, and WCW rarely had credible NWO wrestlers losing any matches in 1997.

Randy Savage entered a singles feud with Page and was unselfish enough to lose their first big match. DDP defeating a former world champion and major NWO member made him a credible main eventer to see their feud continue for the rest of the year with Savage offering a lot of help.

Jay Lethal

The TNA Star Received Touching Phone Calls From Savage

Randy Savage never got to work with Jay Lethal, but the wrestlers will always be bonded due to Lethal’s legendary impersonation. TNA loved it so much that Lethal made it his entire gimmick for one of his biggest pushes under the new nickname of Black Machismo.

Lethal confirmed Savage was told about it by many friends who ended up working in TNA. Savage called Lethal a few times and was extremely kind while showing love. Lethal admitted he feared Savage would hate him after the gimmick, but he received praise from a hero.

Harlem Heat

A Backstage Rib Caused Savage To Love Harlem Heat

Stevie Ray shared a story about how he and his brother Booker T became unlikely friends of Randy Savage. WCW producer Mike Graham told Savage that Booker T was going to kick out of his protected elbow drop finisher during a tag team match of Harlem Heat vs Macho Man and Sting.

Savage was livid until Booker and Stevie told him they’d change the finish out of respect for him. Even though it was later revealed to be a rib by Graham, Savage became friends with both Harlem Heat members after they understood his complaint.

Crush

Savage Tried To Get Crush Over In Last WWE Program

WCW signing Hulk Hogan and making it clear they’d love to add older WWE stars allowed Randy Savage to continue his in-ring career. However, it also revealed the writing on the wall with Savage leaving WWE in 1994 after one last program for WrestleMania 10. Savage handpicked Crush as someone he wanted to work with when other obvious names like Bret Hart and Shawn Michaels had bigger matches that night.

Crush, aka Brian Adams, received a huge shot in a falls count anywhere match against Savage on the biggest stage. Unfortunately, Savage’s desire to help a young talent he loved didn’t work out as Crush continued treading water.

Molly Holly

Save Picked Her To Be In Team Madness

Molly Holly was early into her career when she met Randy Savage, who was looking for help training his girlfriend, Gorgeous George. The general kindness of Molly is often praised by her peers, but Savage was the first major name to take notice and earn respect for her.

Holly received her first big break in WCW as part of the Team Madness entourage when Savage handpicked her. WCW only had Molly on the roster for a short time until WWE swooped in and gave her a bigger push to truly break out. Savage wanting to give a kind, hard worker a break led to Holly having a Hall of Fame career.
