Welcome to a special edition of Wrestling Roundup where we look at the biggest stories from the past week or weekend in wrestling. In the wrestling roundup, we will not only look at the news but rumours as well. Again, fans love speculating on rumours, and all the rumours will be cited from credible sources in the wrestling world. Remember, with rumours, none of them have been confirmed. With that said, let’s dive into this edition of the wrestling roundup looking at CM Punk‘s Return to WWE, Randy Orton back in action, and MJF‘s new contract.
As the Survivor Series was going off, the images saw round the world: CM Punk being back in WWE in Chicago at Survivor Series. Who would have thought this day was going to come? Well, when there is a will, there is a way. As Full Press Wrestling reported throughout the process, CM Punk going back to WWE at the Survivor Series made sense.
With Survivor Series in Chicago and Punk being fired from AEW, it was the perfect spot for him to return. It took some work. Punk had to bury the hatchet with a lot of wrestlers. Triple H kept this close to the vest. Most people did not know he was returning. WWE wanted you to believe he was not going to be there despite images and constant teases. The official meeting to get everything signed and sealed on Punk’s three-year deal was done day of the Survivor Series.
The roar of the crowd in Chicago was electric. Remember, these people were denied an appearance back in September. Punk in Chicago is like Bret Hart in Calgary, Roddy Piper in Portland, and Ric Flair in Charlotte. While some wrestlers like Seth Rollins did not like his return, that is part of a work dating back to his comments made earlier in the year about Punk being a cancer.
It will be interesting to see what his first feud is and what he has to say. Tune into RAW to find out.
It has been teased since the last episode of RAW. Cody Rhodes needed a fifth member to take on The Judgment Day and Drew McIntyre. The fans knew and chanted his name. Cody in his final promo before the Survivor Series War Games match, dropped even more clues. Though he did not say his name, Cody referenced Randy Orton in the entire promo. Thus making him the fifth member of Cody’s team.
You were wondering how WWE was going to bring back Orton. He was the last member of the babyface team. But when it was time for him to come out, Orton did not appear right away. Instead, Seth Rollins went through a table and Rhea Ripley was teasing a Money in the Bank cash-in until Orton’s music hit and the Viper came out.

The match was short and quick for Orton when he came out. He did not hit many moves after having double fusion surgery on his back. But the crowd went nuts for Randy Orton and it was good to have him back. He hit a massive RKO on JD McDonagh before Rhodes won the match. And Orton and Jey Uso played off their history, which was good to see.
Let’s see what type of schedule Orton keeps going forward.
According to Nick Hausman of Haus of Wrestling, AEW World Champion and one-half of the ROH Tag Team Champions MJF is signed with AEW through 2027.
Several WWE sources believe MJF has quietly re-signed with AEW. One higher-up WWE source stated that there have been “zero talks” between the two sides. The idea that MJF is set to enter free agency imminently is a “false narrative” and that they believe he has re-signed into 2027.
According to one WWE source, the idea of MJF’s impending free agency is “completely in his head,” and another source stated, “1000%. I was told a while ago he is under a long-term deal, which is why they stopped pushing the 2024 stuff.”
The belief is that MJF quietly renewed his contract with AEW. Recall, MJF was building up this bidding war of 2024 between WWE and AEW. However, that is no longer the case. As a matter of fact, since MJF has turned babyface, he has yet to mention it. It appears AEW and Tony Khan dropped the storyline.
MJF is the face of AEW right now. He is involved in almost every major storyline surrounding his title. He is so over with the crowd as a heel and babyface that can’t afford to have him leave and use that narrative.
This is huge for AEW considering what happened with Jade Cargill and now CM Punk. One of the four Pillars remains with the company.
