WWE 2K25 has been following the series' usual DLC rollout, gradually adding new Superstars to the roster in the months following its launch. It encountered a speedbump on that familiar roadmap earlier this year, though, when it was forced to release an incomplete DLC pack. It has now made up for that by replacing the still-unconfirmed absent celebrity guest with El Grande Americano.
Even though September's DLC pack, which will be released next week, isn't here yet, 2K dropped a welcome surprise for owners of the game with access to its New Wave DLC a little early. El Grande Americano is included in the 1.024 patch, which went live on all platforms earlier this week. If you have the New Wave Pack, and that update has been applied, the luchador should be ready and raring to go, waiting to be selected on your virtual roster.
You need to have that pack for Americano to be added to the game, so don't go looking for him if you don't have it. There are several ways you can get the DLC. If you bought anything more than the standard edition of WWE 2K25, then all of the DLC packs should be downloaded and applied automatically, or can be claimed for no additional cost if not. You will also get the New Wave pack if you have bought the Season Pass, or Americano should have been added to your roster if you bought the New Wave pack separately.
As for why a wrestler is being added to a pack that was released in May four months later, that first round of 2K25 DLC was advertised as including a celebrity guest alongside Giulia, Stephanie Vaquer, and the Motor City Machine Guns. When 2K started to reveal NBA stars coming to the game in the second DLC pack before the first pack's celebrity guest had been revealed, wrestling fans smelled a rat.
Turns out they were right to be suspicious, as whoever that celebrity guest was, whatever deal WWE had with them had clearly fallen through. Although not confirmed, the widely held belief is that Travis Scott was supposed to be that celebrity. Scott was heavily involved with WWE around the time DLC plans would have been discussed backstage. However, Scott is no longer working with WWE, rumors suggesting that he wasn't well-liked backstage, and that he was unwilling to put in the work like other celebrities who have impressed in the ring.
