The immortal words of the immortal Dave Batista, “Give me what I want,” resonate with longtime fans of the WWE video games. When GM Mode vanished, the calls were loud and steady to bring them back. After having done that, the goalposts moved for co-op play. Now, in WWE 2K25, MyGM is online capable, which is the standout change among several.
The mode is much improved, and it is also worth checking out. New match types, making use of intergender wrestling, and improvements to functionality are all on the docket for what is fast becoming the best mode in WWE games (once again).
Xavier Woods’s UpUpDownDown YouTube channel has powered the GM mode’s success in recent years. Specifically, his Battle of the Brands series with Tyler Breeze. That show’s co-op success made WWE 2k25 MyGM fairly directly, and both men returned to the roster of playable GMs.
Joining them are multiple new additions like Miss Elizabeth, Paul Heyman, and Mr. Fugi. now, not everyone lives within close proximity to their friend or co-host. For the players separated by geography, that means it lacks the core appeal of competing against your friends. That changed with a new online option this year; an addition fans have wanted since the return.
The online GM mode works just like the original. You and your competitors take turns booking a show, and then you get the results and the fans and dollars change.
You can compete for Hall of Fame Trophies, which are earned through objectives, or you can grind through the seasons looking to win the majority of the fans over to your side. This marks the most significant change in the game mode, and really the entire series, even more so than The Island Mode.
With cooperative play likely being a prominent feature for most players, WWE added a few more Battle of the Brands accessories to the mode. Those are the pick clock and the penalty. The pick clock or booking timer in the game adds a race-against-the-clock component to booking your show and managing your rosters.
Like on the show, you can set yourselves up for a faster experience by forcing everyone to book quickly or suffer consequences. The consequences of the show are usually reduced time or some other manner of viral content, but for players, it’s the fan penalty.
The penalty can be set steep or shallow, but missing the timer causes a percentage of fan loss that can’t be stopped, no matter how good you booked.

Booking against your friends for respect is a lot of fun. Making it a more experienced competition with these features makes it far more entertaining. It also speeds up four-person games, as the booking has to be done within a set time amount.
That will definitely make online play more enjoyable. It will allow subsequent restarts to have different challenges beyond the changes you can always make to the difficulty and the additional matches that it provides.
It also makes trading, which returned from 2k24, more interesting, as your friends are the targets.
The most interesting change is the existence of dual-branded Premium live events (PLEs). Previous iterations of the game had both GMs book a show for the PLE, making those weeks extra long as the booking and then simulating or spectating would take a lot of time.
In WWE 2k25 MyGM, the managers come together for the PLE, sharing the main event and the opener with one another in multi-person matches. Now, some of the most iconic matches are like the Royal Rumble match.
Having played through Money in the Bank, it is confirmed as an option, but no cash-in option is available. The winning show gets bonuses and power cards for winning the matches.
If you could play or watch matches online in MyGM, this would be the best feature by far. Sadly, it goes from game-changer to interesting because you cannot face your friends in the ring for brand supremacy.
It also makes the PLE less about fans and more about collecting powers and trophies for your GM. Rivals can still blow off feuds at a PLE, but you only get a few segments on the PLE. Instead, you want to have your stars’ payoff storylines the week before the event.
This frees up your top male and female stars to fight the opposition on your behalf.

The game mode does not change the shake-up system. All of the features that fans enjoyed return. The new talents are met with familiar faces in the local talent pool, like Kyle Slickman or Carolina Reaper.
So don’t expect the numerous local wrestlers to disappear in this or any other game mode. Sadly, all the returning pros can be said about the missing cons from previous games. WWE hasn’t reintroduced matches like the Royal Rumble or Elimination Chamber back into the franchise.
The continually simplistic match table is a significant weakness. Overall, though, this year’s iteration, with a new cast, new tricks, and the same charm, is going to make it a lot longer than it did in its first run.
