2K somehow finds a way to add new matches to its WWE games every year. This year, WWE 2K25's new match types are Bloodline Rules, about which people have nothing but positive things to say, and Underground Rules. The introduction of Underground matches hasn't been getting quite as much praise, although some of you have been getting a good laugh out of some of its entrances.
Which wrestlers have the most ridiculous looking Underground entrances?by u/Objectionne in WWEGames
Underground matches weren't a part of WWE for long, which is probably evidence that 2K is running out of ideas when it comes to introducing new match types to the series. The main difference between an Underground match and all other match types in WWE is the lack of ropes. That has made for some fun new mechanics in 2K25, like shoving opponents teetering on the edge of the ring into the people watching at ringside.
However, the lack of ropes poses a problem for Superstars who use them as part of their entrance. Take the Ultimate Warrior, for example. One of the most memorable parts of the late Hall of Famer's presentation was how he'd shake the ropes during his entrance. Underground matches weren't a thing when Warrior was around, so he didn't have to worry about what he'd do without ropes.
Since he's in WWE 2K25, the game's developers did need to overcome that hurdle, and judging by a thread on the WWEgames subreddit, players aren't that impressed with the solution. Warrior energatically starts running to the ring, as was the norm during his career, only for the camera to cut and show him strolling leisurely down the latter half of the ramp.
The rest is incredibly generic, and if you keep watching until John Cena is about to join him, it looks like it gets worse. After Cena does all of his schtick at the top of the ramp, there's a cut in the same place, and the 16-time World Champion proceeds to perform the same animations that Warrior did seconds before.
Liv Morgan's Underground entrance is another bad one fans have pointed to in the replies to the thread above. However, having checked it out myself, and as you can see in Revelleution's video above, I didn't see some of the bugs others referenced. It just felt incredibly generic after her initial animations like Warrior and Cena's.
Fans are split over being okay with this since WWE 2K games are an annual release, arguing that the dev team doesn't have time to make bespoke Underground entrances for 300+ Superstars, while others are demanding better than this. The good news for those of you not okay with the generic Underground entrances is that not everyone has them. The Undertaker, for instance, has a unique entrance for Underground matches that's different from his regular one.
