WWE Backlash 2025 is set to take place tonight (Saturday, 10 May 2025) from the Enterprise Center in St. Louis, Missouri. As the first Premium Live Event following WrestleMania 41, Backlash will be setting up the state of the company as we head towards the summer. While the official match order hasn’t been confirmed, here’s our predicted sequence based on current storyline developments and match significance.
Kicking off the event, Women’s Intercontinental Championship match between Lyra Valkyria and Becky Lynch will likely set the tone. Following their brief alliance and subsequent fallout, Lynch’s heel turn adds a different dynamic to this one.
Next, the clash between Gunther and Pat McAfee will probably provide a slightly different momentum to the even. Gunther will likely be destroying McAfee here to write him off TV, so putting it second on the show doesn’t derail momentum into the rest of the card.
The Intercontinental Championship match between Dominik Mysterio and Penta will likely follow. Mysterio’s recent title win and Penta’s pursuit of arguably the most prestigious midcard title in the company could lead to this being a sleeper for match of the night.
The Fatal 4-Way for the United States Championship features Jacob Fatu defending against LA Knight, Damian Priest, and Drew McIntyre, and we think that it will be the penultimate match on the card. This will be a quick and hard hitting affair so getting it on just before the main event makes sense.
There’s nothing else that could be in the main event. John Cena vs Randy Orton for the final time is one of the biggest bouts the company can do right now in Cena’s retirement tour, so this will end the night (hopefully) with a bang.
