Longtime AEW fan favorite Danhausen may be approaching a crossroads in his wrestling career, with WWE interest quietly emerging as his contract status becomes a bit cloudy.

According to report first published by Fightful Select and shared on multiple accounts, Danhausen’s deal with All Elite Wrestling is set to expire in February 2026, and there has been little indication that a renewal is imminent.
During a recent Q&A session, WrestleVotes contributor TC revealed that WWE has discussed Danhausen internally, though opinions on him are far from unanimous.
“I know there are people there who want him to come over, and I also know there are people there who aren’t very keen on him or his talents. I’m sure there will be an offer—he’s talented and he’s over. But I know some people there just don’t get it.”
Understandably, WWE might be unsure about where Danhausen would fit as a performer. He is one of the most distinctive characters in the industry, but he's not everyone's cup of team.
His gimmick -- and many argue that's all he is -- blends dark humor and absurdity into a merchandise-selling machine. His merch sales, social media presence, and viral appeal helped make him one of AEW’s most recognizable personalities. For that reason alone, if WWE thnks they can make money on him, he might be on their radar, even if an unserious role.
No one expects him to be a contender if signed. Think R-Truth, Joe Hendry, or Mr. Iguana.
Danhausen's absence from AEW programming has become increasingly noticeable. Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful recently reported that the wrestler hasn’t been backstage in quite some time and hasn’t been factored into creative plans. The hint here is that AEW has already started to think about life without him and his already limited role with the company may already be winding down.
Does that mean WWE cares? Maybe they don't want someone who struggled in AEW. At the same time, maybe WWE believes they can do something with Danhausen that AEW couldn't. WWE has historically been selective about comedy-driven characters, but that doesn't mean it always shies away from them.
If he knows what he is, and has no problems being that for WWE, there might be a lane in which he fits. At the most, he's probably someone who offers entertainment value rather than solid in-ring work.
