WWE’s Crown Jewel event takes fans to the RAC Arena in Perth, Australia, on October 11, 2025. In an event in which champions face champions to determine the best of the best, there are a few other tantalizing storylines heading into the show. John Cena is scheduled to face AJ Styles on his retirement tour, and Roman Reigns is billed for an Australian Street Fight with Bronson Reed. The questions lie in a non-title tag match: Will management take the obvious route, or would it be wiser to pursue the unexpected twist below?

The Match At Crown Jewel

The Kabuki Warriors, Asuka and Kairi Sane, are scheduled to take on Rhea Ripley and Iyo Sky. This is one of the more interesting and well-told storylines of any female on the roster. Asuka turned heel some time ago and seems to have control over the tormented Sane. Sky is holding strong as a babyface and has made friends with Ripley.

The Expected At Crown Jewel

Sane has been taking instructions from Asuka, but consistently hesitates before being convinced to finish the job. Sky was holding on to hope for The Pirate Princess to come around, but she’s finally had enough of the punishment. Everything appears to be building for The Empress of Tomorrow’s partner finally turning against her, and her heel antics.

The Unexpected At Crown Jewel

It’s more difficult than ever for WWE to pull off the unexpected. The internet and wrestling IQ of today’s fan make it tough for management to pull something off at Crown Jewel. It’s an easy call to pay off the babyfaces at the end of this storyline; Sane joining Ripley, and former factionmate, Sky.

Who would expect a heel-turn from the top face in the women’s division? Any fan can see Sane turning on Asuka, but isn’t Ripley the odd one out? The more interesting decision is having Sky turn on her tag partner, joining The Kabuki Warriors in a dominant heel faction. WWE needs an antagonist for their new, green champion, Stephanie Vaquer. The storyline and the champion could all be saved at Crown Jewel.

Ripley also happens to be from Australia, which benefits both the expected and unexpected above. It’s easy to give the hometown talent the win on an international PLE, but imagine the heat Sky would get from turning at Crown Jewel.
