WWE Evolve Results

Your hosts for the program are Peter Rosenberg & Robert Stone.

NXT General Manager Ava is backstage with NXT Assistant General Manager Stevie Turner. She applauds Stevie for her recent assistant work with Evolve and segues her into a special announcement in the ring.

We head to the ring, surrounded by the WWE Evolve roster, and Stevie Turner is officially named Evolve’s General Manager! Stevie thanks everyone and ensures that wrestling will only evolve under her leadership. She previews the future of the program before announcing an impromptu bout between Sam Halloway and Wolfgang, right here, right now!

But wait! Before we head to the break, Luca Crusifino gets into a brief altercation with Keanu Carver at ringside, plotting the seeds for their future showdown.

Sam Halloway vs. Wolfgang

Two big bulls are locked in a confrontation as a result of last week’s tag-team match. They slug each other out to start, as neither man gains an advantage. Halloway ends up with a brutal powerslam to Wolfgang on the apron before ramming his rib first to the post. A powerslam gets two. Wolfgang tries to fight back, but his back is slowing him down. Abdominal stretch by Sam, and a hiptoss gets two.

Wolfgang fires off a flying shoulder block, but as he slingshots himself back to the ring, he hurts his leg, allowing Sam to suplex him in the corner for a two-count. Halloway sets him up for a superplex, but Wolfgang fights him off and nails a Swanton Bomb for the win (8:32).

Earlier this week, Layla Diggs and Aria Bennett met in the gym to discuss their team-up for that night.

Carlee Bright is seen in the VIP section alongside the crowd.

Kendal Grey vs. Zara Zakher

They get into a stalemate early until Grey hits a slick takedown into an armbar. Zara answers with one of her own, but Kendal fights out. Zara with a dropkick to the back of the head for two. Kendal now targets Zakher’s arm, ramming it into the turnbuckle to set up her armbar submission.

Zakher fights back with a suplex, slowly picking up steam with a comeback. Zara’s spinebuster only gets two because she relinquishes the pinfall. They exchange blows that end with Zara nailing an enzuigiri. A missed frog splash from Zara goes south. Grey takes advantage with a flying armbar for the submission win (6:11), staying undefeated in the show so far.

Post-match, Kylie Rae comes out to comfort her friend’s loss, only for the camera to cut to Wendy Choo’s teddy bear placed near the ring post.

Drako Knox is here with the commentators. He talks about last week’s match and the post-match confrontation with Swipe Right’s mysterious bodyguard at ringside. Drako wants to know who the bodyguard is, challenging him to face him one on one.

“Super” Sean Legacy is set to take on a former “OG” Evolve champion later in tonight’s main event. Who could that be?

Next week, Kylie Rae will finally battle Wendy Choo, and two absolute monsters collide as Joe Coffey faces Harlem Lewis. Moreover, Dani Palmer and Kali Armstrong take part in the second Evolve Face-Off.

We then cut to Ice Williams and Swipe Right in the VIP section.

Layla Diggs & Aria Bennett vs. Haze Jameson & Kalyx

Layla and Aria go to work on Kalyx early, but Kalyx turns the tide and tags Haze in for a quick two. Jameson works on Diggs and tags Kalyx in for an elbow for two. However, Haze is too distracted drinking with Swipe Right at ringside, allowing Kalyx to get finished off with a facebuster suplex from Diggs (2:45). Jameson couldn’t believe it and goes to console her partner, but Kalyx is not too happy with this result.

Sean Legacy vs. Timothy Thatcher

Timothy Thatcher, a former Evolve Champion at record-setting 596 days, is announced as tonight’s mystery opponent! We take a look at Legacy’s pre-match package, where he stresses he will prove everyone that keeps doubting him wrong, creating a legacy of his own.

Sean is hot right out of the gate with a dropkick and a standing moonsault for two. Thatcher quickly takes him down right away, though, only for Legacy to fire back again with a short burst. Timothy ends up outside, so Legacy hits a suicide dive on him before we head to commercials.

We are back and both men are trading strikes, with Thatcher unsurprisingly winning that exchange, and a back suplex gets two. Timothy goes to work on Sean now with a ton of gritty, vicious mat holds. A belly-to-belly suplex gets two, as Timothy goes right back to wearing him down. Timothy pulls on his neck, but Legacy drops him to the floor.

Thatcher tries to get back up, but falls on his feet on the apron, allowing Legacy to suplex him into the ring. That begins a brief momentum raiser, as Legacy goes for a springboard dropkick that earns him two. Thatcher with a huge uppercut to the back of the neck, but Legacy comes back with a running enzuigiri into the corner, before hitting the Shambles for the win (8:48).

After the bout, Thatcher unreluctantly applauded Sean before leaving. Swipe Right enter the ring to confront Legacy, only for Jack Cartwheel and Cappuccino Jones to come out and back him up. Remember, these are the guys that beat Swipe Right in a six-man tag in episode one. Swipe Right ask for Ice Williams to join him. Williams considers it, getting to the ring but siding with the babyfaces instead, as the show comes to a close.

Next week: Kylie Rae vs. Wendy Choo, Joe Coffey vs. Harlem Lewis, and Dani Palmer meets with Kali Armstrong in an Evolve Face-Off!

Final Thoughts

More storylines are produced on this show, which is exactly what me and other viewers needed to stay engaged with the program. You can see the building blocks for the future tonight, as they laid out the format, the authority figure, and potential top stars. The appearance of Timothy Thatcher is not one I was expecting, but it was a good surprise for me. Overall, a solid episode that improved from last week.
