It has happened in a roundabout way that no one could have ever predicted as recently as a year ago, but The Hardy Boyz are working in WWE again. That's thanks to WWE's working relationship with TNA, and thanks to that working relationship and what appears to be a development in how deep it runs, fans have been given a reason to believe Matt and Jeff might be in WWE 2K26.
Spotted by The SmackDown Hotel, The Hadry Boyz were just added to the WWE Topps app, the veteran brothers being given their very own cards. Despite the various caveats, which we'll get to in a second, this is the first time that wrestlers have appeared in a WWE game of any description while being signed to a different promotion.
Now, those caveats. Fans were quick to highlight that Rob Van Dam was playable in SmackDown vs. Raw 2011 despite being signed to TNA at the time. Technically true, but this is a whole new era. Not only is WWE now under new ownership, but its video games are no longer handled by THQ. 2K took over, which is why the Hardys showing up in the Topps app is particularly noteworthy.
WAIT. The Hardy Boyz just got a card in the Topps WWE app. This is really interesting for WWE 2K26, it’s the first time Superstars not directly signed with WWE appear in a WWE app/game 👀#WWE2K26pic.twitter.com/IuOS5toQmp— SmackDown Hotel (@TheSDHotel) October 9, 2025
Others have pointed to Jake Roberts continuing to show up in WWE games, and Billy Gunn being added to WWE 2K25 via DLC despite still being a part of AEW. Again, those are different situations as Gunn and Roberts are signed to WWE legends deals. That allows WWE to include them in games and sell their merch while giving them a cut of the profits.
There has also been a Joe Hendry Topps card, but the difference there was Randy Orton, and more specifically, the RKO, was the focus since it was a card dedicated to the RKO that Hendry took at WrestleMania. If anything, the Hendry RKO card, and now the card featuring Matt and Jeff Hardy, is evidence that we might be getting the WWE x TNA video game crossover fans were hoping to see in WWE 2K25.
While some might have expected WWE's partnership with TNA to fizzle out, we have seen the exact opposite. There are TNA wrestlers who have made a big enough impact, like Hendry, or who are intrinsically tied to WWE like The Hardy Boyz, you'd have to think WWE has at least considered putting them in its video games. If nothing else, a TNA DLC pack in WWE 2K26 would almost certainly be welcomed by a lot of fans.
