Mr. Iguana may have entered WWE Worlds Collide as an under-the-radar presence, but he left the event as one of its most talked-about stars. Following his colorful appearance this weekend, WWE has quickly realized there is a golden opportunity to capitalize on this popularity, and speculation is growing that the company has big plans for him.

Alongside R-Truth, Mr. Iguana is the biggest talking point coming out of WWE Money in the Bank weekend. The luchador was part of the YouTube special, but stood out in a six-man tag match. He offers a blend of charisma, comedy, and crowd engagement that has captured the attention of everyone, specifically WWE fans who couldn't get enough.

WWE Wants To Take Advantage Of Mr. Iguana's Sudden Fame

While Worlds Collide is being hailed as an overall success, the show set company records for YouTube viewership. It was a great showcase for AAA, but Mr. Iguana stood out. It wasn't his in-ring ability, as he was capable of putting on a five-star match. It was his showmanship and the entertainment value he offered with his use of a puppet sidekick. He had the audience in stitches, laughing at almost everything he was doing, which left a lasting impression that WWE brass has translated into a potential cash cow.

An NXT source told Fightful Select that there is internal momentum to bring Mr. Iguana in for regular appearances on NXT television. WWE officials were reportedly particularly impressed with how well his act translated across different demographics, specifically identifying untapped potential among kids.

Merchandise sales have proven that there may be a winner here as Mr. Iguana’s “AAA Logo” T-shirt currently sits at No. 5 on WWEShop’s top-selling list.

WWE Is Working On Several Ideas For Mr. Iguana

The buzz surrounding his brief appearance on the show has prompted internal discussions about expanding his merchandise line, including the possibility of producing plush iguana puppets.

Mr. Iguana could be a flash in the pan or a mainstay with long-term appeal. If it's the former, WWE wants to strike while the iron is hot. NXT officials are reportedly pushing for more appearances and Mr. Iguana could be a regular feature on WWE programming moving forward.

Whether as comic relief or as an unlikely underdog with crowd support, WWE plans to run with the idea that he could be a hit.
