WWE Icon Jim Ross Hit With Serious Allegations

Jim Ross is still the "voice of wrestling" to most longtime fans. The WWE Hall of Famer is synonymous with some of wrestling's most iconic moments, including Mick Foley breaking in half, Shawn Michaels' boyhood dream, and Austin 3:16. However, fellow WWE legend D-Von Dudley has accused Ross of perpetuating racism.

In a conversation with longtime tag team partner Bubba Ray Dudley and fellow YouTuber Maven on D-Von's channel, Dudley explained why he was not as aggressive as Bubba during their WWE run.

There were so many hills that I wanted to die on, but I just couldn't because of the fact that I was scared of what was going to happen to the family. And I'm going to be honest with you...being African American in this business still, but especially in the very beginning...I was still petrified of racism.

Bubba then asked D-Von if he experienced racism after they became a tag team.

Though he did not name-drop Ross directly, he made it abundantly clear that "Good Ole' JR" was the "higher official" in mind.

Why Did D-Von Call Out Jim Ross?

In addition to his on-screen responsibilities, Ross worked as Head of Talent Relations in the late 1990s and early 2000s. Ross managed WWE's locker room during it's most popular years: the Attitude Era. He was responsible for signing stars like Edge, Chris Jericho, The Big Show, and Eddie Guerrero. From contracts to payroll, his role was significant. In terms of the wresters' authority, he was second only to Vince McMahon.

D-Von did not go into details about the specific incident Bubba remembers, where an undisclosed wrestler confronted him backstage. Regarding Ross, he suggested that instead of defending him, JR tolerated the other wrestler's behavior because it was "the way of the business."

Later in the conversation, the Dudleys spoke humorously of JR, re-telling a famous story of a meeting with the Dudleys, Hardys, and Edge & Christian after SummerSlam 2000.
