WWE

The third episode of season two of WWE LFG: Legends and Future Greats saw the competitors facing off with a focus on character evolution. Shawn Michaels’ call to action for this week’s episode was for the competitors to add uniquely different elements to their characters or wrestling. Here are the full WWE LFG results for this week.

WWE LFG Results (Season 2, Episode 3)

First Match: Sirena Linton vs. Zena Sterling

Prior to the match, Bubba Ray encouraged Sirena Linton to show more attitude. For the first time, she was wrestling as the heel, and Bubba Ray and Booker T were telling her to sell her heel persona through her emotions.

Linton’s heel persona was obvious from her entrance by pushing the camera out of the way. Zena Sterling showed her same bubbly personality on the way to the ring, not yet showing her new, unique element.

The match started with a face-to-face interaction, leading to Linton screaming at Sterling and pushing her away. A lock-up followed by chain wrestling with Sterling, focusing on Linton’s arm. The trade-off of holds was broken up by Linton pulling Sterling’s hair, showcasing her new heel persona.

As the match progressed, Sterling began showcasing new, European-style moves, noted by the announce team, which reminded them of wrestlers like William Regal and Fit Finlay. After a split pin attempt by Linton, Sterling gained momentum again through a series of clotheslines. The match concluded rather suddenly with a surprise rollup by Linton for the win.

Sterling is still the female wrestler to beat. She competes on every show, and not only does she put on a good performance, but she is also helping others within the ring look good. There was a reason why she was the runner-up for the females in season one.

Linton has shown major improvements since season one. The legends noted during the match how comfortable she now is in the ring. Her improvements in the ring and her ability to channel her emotions into her character have been impressive.

Second Match: Penina Tuilaepa vs. Tatyanna Dumas

Tatyanna Dumas wanted to show a smashmouth intensity in her character in this episode. Her coach, Booker T, just wanted her to find a balance in her character that is repeatable for her. Penina Tuilaepa was looking to showcase a new set move and finisher.

After a cross-ring staredown into a lockup, Tuilaepa began displaying her new power move-set, hitting Dumas with a series of bodyslams and shoulder tackles. Dumas, displaying a resilient intensity, continued bouncing back up, showing Tuilaepa and the legends that she does not give up.

Dumas was showing a confidence in the ring not yet seen from her as she was getting in her offensive moves. Tuilaepa would once again shift the momentum back into her favor, hitting Dumas with a Samoan drop and spear for the victory.

There were moments within the match where the legends wanted Tuilaepa to take her time and sell her power moves. Overall, however, the match was excellent for both wrestlers. Dumas is an athletic person, and her confidence in the ring is allowing her to showcase this athleticism.

Her character development also took major strides in the match. Tuilaepa continued to grow as a wrestler. The power move-set she debuted was believable enough for her to continue to use.

Third Match: Chris Island vs. Anthony Luke

Both Anthony Luke and Chris Island were looking to wardrobe changes as the new, unique elements they wanted to debut. Island removed his vest from his entrance, which was not a noticeable change. Luke is struggling with his identity as a wrestler.

His wardrobe change included wearing gloves, which he said was an homage to Booker T. The legend was not a fan of this, hinting that he did not like the look on him because it did not fit him as a wrestler.

Early in the match, Booker T noted that Luke, although athletic, needs to improve his body language and work on selling his moves more believably. Island went to a mat-based offense, trying to be the low man, eventually leading to back-to-back surprise rollup attempts. Halfway through, Island got his left knee caught in the ropes on an attempted boot.

Luke would spend the remainder of the match targeting the knee. In a desperate attempt, Island kicked Luke in the head, giving him the momentum for a small amount of time. When attempting a fireman carry, his knee gave out, giving Luke the chance to hit him with a modified backdrop-turned-bookend finisher for the win.

The match itself was solid. Both wrestlers are athletic, and their athleticism was on display. What stood out was both wrestlers’ homages to other legends.

Luke admitted to his gear being inspired by Booker T, and his influence was seen both in his entrance and move-set, as well. Island took inspiration from Kurt Angle within the match, pulling the straps on his singlet down before sprinting into the corner, leaping to the top rope, and springboarding off.

Although important to acknowledge those who came before, both wrestlers need to continue working on figuring out who they are as wrestlers and characters.

Main Event: Shiloh Hill vs. Elijah Holyfield

Elijah Holyfield was looking to try a new explosive move-set, which excited the legends. Shiloh Hill was debuting a new smile, as he had his missing tooth replaced before the match.

The match between the two of them started with a lockup into chain wrestling, resulting in Holyfield hitting a sidewalk slam. Bubba Ray and The Undertaker both encouraged simple and explosive moves for Holyfield, which he executed throughout the match.

After trading moves back and forth, Holyfield gained momentum with a gut punch into a flying shoulder tackle into a spinebuster, leading to a nearfall. Hill would gain and keep momentum with a back elbow setting up his new finisher, a modified full nelson slam to pick up the win.

Both wrestlers were impressive in the match. Hill continued carrying his consistent work in the ring into season two. The addition of his new finisher is a refreshingly new aspect in his repertoire. Holyfield showed major improvement in his season two debut.

He already has an impressive wrestling physique, and using a simple yet explosive move-set could give Holyfield an edge that will help him stand out from the other male wrestlers.

Final Results

For the females, Linton received three out of four votes to earn a point for Team Booker. For the males, it was a clean sweep for Holyfield, gaining a point for Team Bubba Ray.
