WWE Make The Right Decision Over Royce Keys Future
WWE

Royce Kees made an eye-catching debut at the WWE Royal Rumble last Saturday, and fans are eagerly anticipating his next move. The former AEW star, known as Powerhouse Hobbs during his time with WWE's rival promotion, didn't appear on Monday's RAW.

The former AEW TNT Champion was arguably the biggest surprise participant in the men's Rumble and lasted nearly 10 minutes before he was eliminated by Bronson Reed. He is now set to kickstart his career on the main roster, skipping NXT unlike most talent who sign with WWE.

Royce Keys' WWE Brand Revealed

Keys will seemingly be starting his WWE career on SmackDown, as Bodyslam.net reports that he is likely headed for the blue brand. It means he'll be reunited with his former AEW colleagues Cody Rhodes and Aleister Black on Friday nights.

The 35-year-old is one of the most exciting signings WWE has made in years, and some believe he should have been pushed as a main event star in AEW. He looked the real deal in the Rumble and could make a massive impact on SmackDown, where a true babyface is needed.

Rhodes is undergoing a character transformation and feels more like a tweener than a face at the moment. He was booed by Saudi Arabian fans and told that they didn't want him to win the Rumble when he presented the idea to them.

It will be interesting to see how WWE books Keys, given he's arrived at the very start of the Road to WrestleMania 42. But they have got it spot on choosing SmackDown for their new powerhouse.

WWE Had To Keep Royce Keys Away From Oba Femi

Keys wasn't the only heavyweight to make a storming start to their main roster career, as Oba Femi debuted in the Rumble. The Ruler was called up from NXT and entered the match as the first participant before dominating.

Oba threw five men over the top rope before he was eliminated by Brock Lesnar. He appeared on RAW the following night and destroyed the Viking Raiders.

The former two-time NXT Champion is now a member of the RAW brand moving forward and might be one of the reasons WWE have decided to put Keys on SmackDown. The pair are just getting started and will likely be booked similarly due to their similarities in size, strength and character.

A dream match between the pair could be a possibility further down the line when both are established on the main roster. But for now, both need to be presented as the biggest powerhouses on their respective brands.
