WWE NXT Deadline 2025 emanated from the Boeing Center at Tech Port in San Antonio, Texas, last night. As said in the preview, NXT events never disappoint. Oba Femi requested his rematch against Ricky Saints for the NXT Championship. The stakes rose on Friday Night SmackDown when Cody Rhodes announced he would face the winner of the match next week at SNME.

John Cena himself selected the male and female participants for the Iron Survivor Challenges. Sol Ruca, Lola Vice, Kelani Jordan, Jordynne Grace, and WWE Evolve Women’s Champion Kendal Grey were chosen to earn a match for the NXT Women’s Championship at NXT New Year’s Evil.

Men-wise, Cena chose Je’Von Evans, TNA X-Division Champion Leon Slater, Joe Hendry, Dion Lennox, and Myles Borne (who defeated Trick Williams at NXT Gold Rush to earn the spot) to earn an NXT Championship match on January 6, 2026. Because TNA is involved, let’s Nygma dive into what happened last night.

Oba Femi on Top of The World

The Champion was confident early on, mocking the challenger with his own signature strut, but it wasn’t long before The Ruler imposed his will. Femi battered and bruised Saints by tossing him around the ring, but Saints fired back and even managed to hit a huge Spear and a Stunner on his hulking opponent.

The Ruler continued his assault on the challenger, but Saints once again rallied and hit a pair of Tornado DDTs, one of which happened on the steel steps. The Champion went for a Roshambo, but was countered with a Fall From Grace. Femi pounced on the opportunity as he hit a second Fall From Grace, this time a sit-out version, and won the title.

As a result of the win, Femi also earned a Champion vs. Champion match against Undisputed WWE Champion Cody Rhodes at Saturday Night’s Main Event XLII on December 13. The bout was incredible; the way Ricky Saints showed his respect to Femi was even more impressive.

Iron Kendal Grey

Nygma was thinking Sol Ruca or Kelani Jordan. WWE Evolve Women’s Champion Kendal Grey stunned everyone by winning the 2025 Women’s Iron Survivor Challenge. Grey capitalized on the chaos as she hit a flying Shades of Grey to win her third point and the match.

After the bout, Jacy Jayne came out to the aisle with Fallon Henley and Lainey Reid for the staredown. These things worked so well, and they had the whole thing figured out rather well. Grey winning is one heck of a moment for her. If they’re ready to run with her, it’s certainly worth a shot as she checks a lot of boxes at once.

Definitely All Ego

AAA’s Mr. Iguana toyed with the champion as he played dead before springing back to life and taunting Page with the NXT Universe serenading the challenger. Page refused to play Iguana’s games and immediately attacked him, sending him into the steel steps and quieting the crowd.

Iguana tried to use La Yesca to confuse Page, but it only angered the Champion as he unleashed another assault onto the challenger before spitting on La Yesca. The challenger tried to rally, but one Twisted Grin from Page delivered him the win. When All Ego first, Ethan Page is at his absolute best.

The Dame’s Statement

Shawn Spears and Niko Vance interfered before the bell rang, intimidating Tatum Paxley. An emotional Paxley seemed to want to make amends with her former Culling friends, but the vindictive Izzi Dame refused and slammed her into the steel steps. Dame continued her barrage, even trapping Paxley in the ropes and cracking her with a huge Big Boot before locking in a Boston Crab.

The two battled on the outside, and Paxley suckered Dame in and hit a huge Cemetery Drive, but Shawn Spears distracted her by ripping her favorite doll apart. Paxley smacked Spears, but she turned right into another Big Boot and a Dame Over to give Izzi the win.

The Surprise Je’Von Evans

The match began at a high pace, with Je’Von Evans scoring the first fall just before the five-minute mark, pinning Leon Slater with a hurricanrana. Dion Lennox scored his first fall after executing a Doomsday Device/scoop slam combination on Evans. Joe Hendry entered and immediately secured a fall by pinning Myles Borne.

Slater scored his first point with a Swanton 450 on Hendry, followed by Borne scoring his first point with a cutter on Evans, briefly tying the match. The final minute saw intense action and outside brawling, with Evans escaping the penalty box and the final four competitors trading maneuvers. In the closing seconds, Evans caught Borne with a Scoop Slam and secured a quick pinfall to win just as the time expired.

After the match, Evans showed respect to everyone, except for Lennox. As he will face Evans at New Year’s Evil, NXT Champion Oba Femi appeared on the ramp, but the lights went out. Tony D’Angelo was in the ring to hit a chokeslam on Evans. He poured out on Evans pieces of the black object he had sent to General Manager Ava earlier in the week. Oba Femi looked like he had seen a ghost. Nygma says: Evans was not on my list, but I love to be surprised. The match is an absolute must-watch.

Nygma Says

NXT provided another good show here, with the three big matches more than holding their own. They did a good job of pushing some new stars. Let’s see where some of these things go, including the deal with D’Angelo at the end.

NXT Deadline was a solid show, as the Iron Survivor Challenge continues to be one of the best fresh concepts in a long time. Till NXT on Tuesday, may the Nygma be with you.
