WWE and Netflix are shaking up the Monday Night Raw schedule this September, shifting the flagship show to a 7 p.m. ET start time for three consecutive weeks — September 15, 22, and 29. Whether things stay this way beyond the NFL season remains to be seen.
According to WrestleVotes, the move is a strategic experiment designed to gauge how Raw performs in the wake of the NFL’s return to Monday Night Football. Two of those weeks will feature NFL doubleheaders, with the first kickoff at 7:15 p.m. ET.
Even though television ratings no longer play the role they once did, and content can (and often is) consumed on YouTube or other social media platforms, industry insiders have labeled the move a “smart one.” The earlier time slot ensures Raw’s main event wraps up before the most crucial moments of the NFL games. The idea is to reduce the head-to-head competition and keep wrestling fans engaged without forcing them to choose between their favorite show and the prime-time football action.
Many WWE fans are also football fans, and every season, the sports entertainment giant battles with Monday nights, seeing a drastic downturn because fans are football first. This move may protect WWE from some of that downturn. If the numbers look good, the earlier start time could become a regular feature during the NFL season in the future.
The potential issue is what it might mean for the rest of the globe. The thought is that an earlier won't drastically impact countries where the time zone was already a massive concern. They may not be viewing Raw live as it is.
In other WWE-NFL crossover news, World Heavyweight Champion Seth Rollins is taking on a new gig with NFL Network. The leader of The Vision and current World Champion will join Good Morning Football as a guest host for the 2025-2026 season. He's a big Chicago Bears and football fan, and he'll sit alongside Jamie Erdahl, Kyle Brandt, Manti Te’o, and Sherree Burruss. This is a strong cross-promotional opportunity for WWE.
Rollins has been a frequent guest on the show and other NFL-related media. This won't be anything new for him, other than he'll have a more official role moving forward.
Meanwhile, Rollins will maintain his regular schedule for WWE, including preparations for WWE’s upcoming Clash in Paris PLE. He’ll defend his World Heavyweight Title in a high-stakes Fatal 4-Way match featuring L.A. Knight, Jey Uso, and CM Punk.
