According to multiple reports, specifically Wrestle Votes, WWE SmackDown is set to go back to three hours at the beginning of next year. This news came out of left field, as many thought that their foray into three-hour programming for the Blue Brand was merely an experiment and as a way to support the launch of WWE Raw on Netflix back in January 2025.
However, that might not be the case, as a news outlet shared that WWE and The USA Network are planning to switch the primary two-hour program back to three hours starting in January 2026. SmackDown went to three hours beginning January 2025, with the programming going back to its standard two on July 4th, 2025.
Many fans rejoiced at the news of SmackDown going back to its original format, with fans voicing out their opinion regarding “too much WWE” every week. The company has not made any official statement as of yet, so we’re going to have to see if WWE SmackDown does indeed have another extra hour of programming every week in the form of SmackDown extending its runtime.
