WWE Stars Attend U.S. Army 250th Anniversary & Divide Fans

Rhodes, Stratton, Ford, and Dawkins reportedly sang Happy Birthday to the troops in attendance and then are believed to have left the event shortly after. That means, if true and how the rest of the event is reported to have panned out is accurate, the wrestlers would have departed by the time Trump arrived to give his speech. It was also not a Trump Rally, as some have been describing it, although when Trump took the stage, he did speak on the aforementioned raids.

When wrestling and politics collide, it's going to cause some heated debates, and the appearances of WWE Superstars during this week's US Army event have done exactly that. Many fans have criticized WWE for having its Superstars appear at an event that included an appearance by Trump. "I, too, find it normal for a bunch of WWE wrestlers to appear before a Trump speech filled with inciting language about the ongoing issues in LA, to sing happy birthday to the United States Army," Magik-Mina-MaudDib replied to a now-deleted post on the SquaredCircle subreddit.

WWE Has A History Of Working With And Supporting The US Armed Forces

While fans on the other side of the fence have hit back against those referring to the event as a Trump rally, another highlights a Rolling Stone article covering the event that claims the soldiers who were allowed to appear on camera were screened beforehand to make sure their political allegiance aligned with those of the current president.

Fans defending Rhodes, Stratton, and The Street Profits taking part in the event have claimed it was a celebration of the US Army, not Trump. Not only that, but WWE has a long-standing relationship with the US Armed Forces. The company has been holding Tribute to the Troops events for more than two decades, even flying WWE Superstars out to the Middle East to perform live for people who have been deployed. Ford is also a former US Marine, so he may have requested to be a part of the event.

Wrestlers sharing their political stance or taking part in events like this will always cause controversy. The Undertaker asking fans to vote for Trump, and taking an unwarranted shot at Batista in the process, didn't sit well with a lot of fans.
