WWE Superstar Has Iconic Nickname Removed From Roster Page

The most overlooked part about a wrestler's character is their presentation. Something as simple as whether they should wear trunks or a singlet can affect audience perception. Look at Bobby Roode, who was a great worker but elevated by one of the catchiest entrance songs of the decade and grandiose ring attire.

Beyond the visual package, a crucial part of identity is a stellar name or at least a defining nickname that matches their persona. Does Steve Austin generate the same level of aura without the "Stone Cold" addition? What about the impact The Tribal Chief had during Roman Reigns' latest career-defining run? That's why it's shocking when top superstars opt for a shift.

Keen-eyed fans noticed Tuesday "freakin" was dropped from Seth Rollins' profile on WWE.com. The former World Heavyweight champion has used the moniker since 2022, lasting through multiple heel and face turns for the 38-year-old.

With the inability to use the intended expletive due to FCC guidelines, the schoolyard alternative always felt a bit childish. For a while, it was clear the company wanted to get the nickname over, shoehorning it constantly on commentary and match graphics.

Rollins can be a comedic figure and lean into the business's silly elements, but he has always been at his best as a serious character with clear motivations. His feud with CM Punk has blurred the lines with reality, and with the injection of Reigns, he will almost certainly main event night one of Wrestlemania.

This move was a long time coming, allowing Rollins to tinker with his act moving forward.
