'WWE WrestleMania 42' Undergoes Massive Change: Report

There might be a massive change brewing with WWE's planned "WrestleMania 42" event.

During the Feb. 21 episode of "Friday Night SmackDown," The Rock announced that WWE's biggest annual PLE will be held at Caesars Superdome in New Orleans. It was set to be the first "WrestleMania" event in "The Big Easy" since 2014.

Wrestlenomics is now reporting that "WrestleMania 42" won't be taking place in New Orleans after all. The report claims that a statement from the Greater New Orleans Sports Foundation reveals the event is being pushed back to a "later, unspecified year."

“The Greater New Orleans Sports Foundation and New Orleans & Company are working closely with our friends at TKO to expand our long-standing partnership, which will include UFC 318 on July 19, 2025, Money In The Bank in 2026, and WrestleMania – which will move from the currently scheduled 2026 timeframe to a future year,” the Greater New Orleans Sports Foundation said in a statement to Wrestlenomics.

Fightful caught wind of the report and was able to receive confirmation from WWE regarding the change. Based on the statement from the Greater New Orleans Sports Foundation, it would appear that the location change hasn't negatively impacted the relationship between "NOLA" and WWE.

There is currently no word on where "WrestleMania 42" might be headed.

This isn't the first time WWE has reportedly strayed away from initial plans to hold its biggest show of the year in a particular location. The company was also said to have changed their intention to have Minneapolis host a "WrestleMania" show. Instead, the city will be getting a special two-night "SummerSlam 2026" event.
